Open Wheel Manager 2 - Microprose

Prima di tutto calmiamo gli entusiasmi di coloro che leggendo "Microprose" sono saltati dalla sedia: la MicroProse odierna è una società molto diversa (e di proprietà di un'organizzazione diversa) da quella che ha creato Grand Prix 1-4, Grand Prix Manager e Grand Prix World. Tuttavia, c'è sicuramente qualcosa di romantico nel vedere quel nome attribuito a un nuovo gioco manageriale dedicato alle monoposto Formula (1 non possiamo dirlo, per motivi di licenza...).

Il seguito dell'originale gioco del 2019, sviluppato da Paprikash Games sotto etichetta Microprose, ci vedrà supervisionare le corse su 16 diversi tracciati ed includerà anche la gestione di ERS e DRS. Ci saranno 12 squadre giocabili da portare in pista, 42 piloti e sei fornitori di motori, con un mercato dei piloti. È possibile costruire e potenziare cinque diversi impianti.

Ogni gara sarà modellata in 3D, cosa che l'originale non implementava, affidandosi invece al classico stile gestionale dei punti su una mappa. La possibilità di personalizzare la livrea della propria auto è un'opzione, insieme agli sponsor fittizi, e le gare saranno commentate da Jake Sanson, noto commentatore della TV inglese.

Il playtest di Open Wheel Manager 2 inizia proprio oggi su PC tramite Steam e, sebbene non ci sia ancora una data di uscita, è possibile candidarsi da subito per partecipare. Il playtest è in realtà in leggero ritardo, visto che sarebbe dovuto partire il 2 giugno 2023. Come per ogni titolo gestionale, la prova su strada ci dirà se c'è abbastanza profondità per offrire centinaia di ore di progressione e divertimento.

Every Choice Matters

Open Wheel Manager 2 is a true old school racing manager. Every variable (be it about your car or your personnel) matters here. If an overtake occurs during the race, you can be 100% sure that it took place due to the parameters of the driver and the car. No other factors outside of your control were involved in this.
The actions of the teams controlled by the computer are not simplified in any way. Just like you, they build cars, repair, improve, look for personnel and pilots and choose tactics for the race.

Il primo Open Wheel Manager è stato rilasciato nel 2019 con un'accoglienza prevalentemente positiva, sviluppato da uno studio chiamato Paprikash Games, ma con l'esperienza di MicroProse Software, responsabile dei leggendari Grand Prix.

Open Wheel Manager 2 inizia alla fine degli anni '90 e, contrariamente ad altri titoli simili, c'è una grande attenzione ai compiti manageriali propriamente detti, non ci si limita quindi solamente alla gestione del weekend di gara. I compiti del giocatore includono la ricerca di sponsorizzazioni e la gestione dei piloti, che possono essere principianti che hanno bisogno di acquisire esperienza o veterani che devono affrontare sfide diverse. 

E' possibile seguire l'azione in modi diversi, con una visualizzazione 3D o una visualizzazione 2D dall'alto verso il basso, o saltare il tutto e andare direttamente alla pagina dei risultati. La grafica, come si può notare, non è straordinaria, ma ciò che dovrebbe importare è se il gameplay è divertente. Open Wheel Manager 2 è attualmente in accesso anticipato su Steam ed è acquistabile per € 17,55.
