The purpose of this maintenance window is to deploy patch 4.4 to Need for Speed World.

Duration:

Two (2) hours

Start: 20:00 hrs (8:00 PM) PDT

End: 22:00 hrs (10:00 PM) PDT

Affected Users:

During the maintenance window, the servers will be offline and users will not able to log in and play Need for Speed World. Players who are already logged in and playing NFS World will be diconnected from the server and therefore, disconnected from the game.

Release Notes:

- Matchmaking no longer fails when a client blocks UDP traffic

- Using minimum video settings no longer speeds up the game

- The amount of reputation needed to reach level 2 has been reduced

- The game will no longer crash when a motto is entered in the driver profile that consists of only spaces

- An adjustment to the drop rate of power-ups has been made

- Single player events will now only yield blue reward cards

That's Right, New Content is Coming to Need for Speed World

Coming soon, are the following major updates that we'll be adding to NFS World:

New Game Mode "Team Evade"

There are two pieces of content that the community most frequently asks for us to deliver. One of those is a co-op game mode; so we're introducing a new multiplayer co-op mode called "Team Evade" We will be releasing additional information soon, but if you want to check out an early version of Team Escape in action check out this video recorded during the NFS community day @ Gamescom.

Performance Customization

The second piece of content that the community frequently asks for is performance customization. Our second piece of content that we will be adding to NFS World is a new slot-based performance customization system! This is something that's very near and dear to our hearts and we are extremely happy to be introducing this as one of the first major updates to the game. Stay tuned as we will also be releasing additional information about this feature shortly.

Full Day Night Cycle

Eduardo and the team have been working long and hard at getting all the cities in NFS World set up for Night time! Get ready as we bring you night time racing! And if I do say so myself...the World looks brilliant at night. Just take a look at the screen shot at the beginning of this blog.

New Area - Downtown Rockport

We'll also be adding a new drivable area and with that a bunch of new race events. Downtown Rockport will be opened up to everyone for racing, meeting places and pursuits.

Not sure if you noticed this but the photo above is actually a shot of Downtown Rockport at night.

Community Leaderboards

If you're interested in seeing who, out of your friends, has the best lap time you'll soon be able to find out. The community leaderboards will allow you to see how you stand up against your friends or the World. And if that isn't enough, you can also set up the leaderboards to only show you the stats for those whom you specify. You have full control over who appears on the leaderboard and who does not.

New Cars

As we confirmed in the last episode of Ask Marc; we do have a number of new cars coming and as Marc said, we'll put the cars in the game as soon as they are ready.

All this great content will be coming very soon and remember, this is only the beginning! We know you're begging for a date, sorry! Just know you'll be the first to play it when it's ready.

Need for Speed World Goes Free to Play

The Need for Speed World team is pleased to announce we are removing the Level 10 cap starting today and making the game completely Free to Play.

We've listened to the comments from our community and we've decided to make a change. Previously, gamers who didn't buy the Starter Pack were unable to progress past Level 10. Beginning today, anyone will be able to race all the way through to Level 50 and will have full access to the entire World, all Events and Game Modes, both present and future.

In the next weeks and months we have some great new features coming including new cars, deep performance customization, a new world region and a co-op pursuit mode. With such cool content we wanted to make sure everyone has the chance to experience the complete game from Level 1 to Level 50. For more info about these new features click here.

Our VIP gamers who bought the Starter Pack before today (Sept 8th) will soon be receiving a little present from us in the form of three free 7-day car rental vouchers for the BMW M3 GTR, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 and the Audi R8 4.2 FSI Quattro. After a massive amount of popular request we're very pleased to announce the Toyota Supra is one of five cars making their debut in Need for Speed World. When we announced the new content coming later this year* we hinted at some new cars but now we're able to reveal more details about which new cars you'll soon be able to drive around the World.

Regular gamers will know we take down the servers for a couple of hours every Tuesday. Normally this is just for server updates, patches and bug fixes but during this week's update we'll be adding five new cars to the game line-up. We've already spoiled the surprise with the screenshot of the Toyota Supra but here are the four other cars you could soon be driving:

- BMW M3 E92

- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X

- Porsche 911 Turbo (aka 997 TT)

- BMW 135i Coupe

We'll have more info about each car over the next few days but until then sate your interest with these screens of the new rides

Introducing Race Now to Need for Speed World

What is Race Now?

Race Now is a feature which allows players to quickly find the first suitable Multiplayer race to join with one simple click of a button. It's perfect for casual players who don't have a lot of time and just want to play any race by minimizing the amount of time it takes for players to exit a race and enter the next one. Race Now automatically tries to find a suitable Multiplayer race for the player to join, based on our matchmaking system. Usually the system will search for races close to the player

We are very excited to announce three new regions and 25 new race events will be added to Need for Speed World tonight! You'll now be able to race through classic Need for Speed territory revisiting Rockport, Fortuna and Kempton. For those of you who've driven these streets before we can guarantee you'll never have seen the cities looking as good as they do now. The World team have spent months going through the maps and tuning every element of the cities to bring a whole new level of detail to the game.

As well as the new regions we've included 25 new races spread across great new Sprint and Circuit events. New leaderboards will be available so you can show off your skills to the whole racing World.

This is just the first in a series of very cool updates we've got planned for World so stayed tuned and we'll see you on the streets.

Release Notes:

New Features

- New Performance Customization System: Players can now install individual performance parts on their vehicle. Customize your car like never before!

- Durability & Insurance: Cars now lose durability each race and will need to be repaired. If a car reaches 0% durability, it will lose all benefits from performance parts. Durability loss can be prevented for a set period of time by purchasing Insurance from the Safehouse.

- Booster Packs are now available for purchase. These packs each contain 5 Reward Cards, granting you additional performance parts, cash, and powerups.

- Hot Pursuit Cross-Promotion: Need for Speed Hot Pursuit owners will receive a free 3-Day rental of a cop-themed Audi R8 and Exclusive cop vinyls that can be applied to any car in your garage. To qualify, you must use the same EA Account to play Need for Speed World and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. To receive your rewards, you will need to be logged in to your EA Account and have redeemed your Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Online Pass code.
