English translation mod DONE!!!

Ogni modifica è illegale... Ci sono i diritti (licenze, copyright, ecc) da rispettare... Basta mantenere una buona e rigorosa facciata con chi "caccia la grana" (deve essere sicuro di averla cacciata bene e di cacciarne ancora! )

Penso che su RSC o su Drivingitalia nessuno possa impedirci di parlare di possibili (anzi... addirittura implicitamente consentiti!) mod su GTR!

Da quello che ho capito leggendo il forum di RSC redo basti prendere il file game.dic e cancellare TUTTO quello che c'è all'interno: pare sia utile solo per far comparire il gioco in tedesco. In caso normale dovrebbe essere in inglese.

Per ora comunque ci ho guardato di fretta e non mi sono soffermato.

i'am very astonished about what simbin said about illegal translation

for game.dic, it's not at all a reverse engeenering because game.dic is a text file not crypted and not assembled and so can be opened and edited with notepad.

so in the following line, i will describe what you can do to translate yourself your german version but you must NOT do it

WARNING... IT'S TOTALLY ILLEGAL TO DO IT, DON'T DO IT !

here we go...

1- backup your UIDATA\GTRTextOptions.gtr file

2- copy UIDATA\GTRTextOptions.gtr from the GTR OFFICIAL DEMO (DEMO 2) to you GTR GERMAN VERSION in UIDATA\ folder

DON'T WORRY, the DEMO FILE contains all graphics needed

3- backup your UIDATA\game.dic file

4- open game.dic file with notepad.exe or a text editor

5- for EACH LINE remplace the RIGHT value by the LEFT value

ie : replace "HELP" = "HILFE" by "HELP" = "HELP", do it for EACH LINE

note that you can do it very quickly by using MS Excel

6- save the file then close notepad.exe

7- finished....

some text (all labels but not the values) are always in german because Simbin hardcoded soms text to avoid such a mod. Anyway the translation is complete at about 80% and all the messages displayed during qualifying/race will be in english.

All the assigned key are also in english

Sorry for the lack of news... was a bit disapointed about simbin announcement about illegals translation....

my goal is not to do warez things but to help GTR non-german fans....

Artrimenti c'è un modo più spiccio pe' chi va de prescia:

4- open game.dic with notepad

5- DELETE all the lines from the file, to make an empty ZERO length file

6- save

....

You don't need to translate anything, the game knows the words and sentences. This file is just a dictionary to translate the text to other languages than english.

IO ho scaricato quella Patch, poi ho cancellato il file game.dic..

Risultato.. il gioco turns in English (a parte l'audio, ovviamente)

Non so dire quale delle operazioni ha funzionato, cmq facendo così è OK
