Con un giro strepitoso, il finlandese Kimi Raikkonen su McLaren è riuscito a conquistare la pole position (1'31"523) per il Gran Premio d'Europa che si correrà domani sul circuito del Nurburgring, precedendo di soli 0'00"032 Michael Schumacher su Ferrari ! Seguono le due Williams di Ralf e Montoya, quindi Barrichello ed un ottimo Trulli al 6° posto; solo nona l'altra McLaren di Coulthard.
