Two-time iRacing VW Jetta TDI Cup champion Wyatt Gooden has been selected to compete in the 2010 SCCA Pro Racing VW Jetta TDI Cup. As the winner of the 2009 iRacing VW Jetta TDI Cup, Gooden will receive a full-funded ride in the ten race series which pits Americans aged 16-26 against one another in identically-prepared VW Jetta TDIs on road courses throughout North America.

The final selection process brought more than thirty candidates to Las Vegas last week for on-track competition and media training. The first day’s action saw Gooden among the fastest of the candidates in the go-kart competition. The following day he was named as one of 25 drivers for the series after a session of lapping the VW Jetta TDIs at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, about 80 miles outside of Las Vegas. Gooden reported that his iRacing experience prepared him well for the selection process and noted the virtual Jetta’s dynamics are “right on” compared to those of its real world counterpart. Gooden, who hails from Gates Mills, Ohio, will make his professional racing debut at Virginia International Raceway where Rounds One and Two of the 2010 VW Jetta TDI Cup are scheduled for April 23-25, 2010.
