“A joint venture, project between SRA, It’s partners, and the wisdom of the crowd”.

The team at www.simracingoz.com (Sim Racing Australia) would like to officially announce their fictional take on the 2015 Australian ‘Supercars’ touring car series with their new, scratch built mod that will be coming to the Stock Car Extreme title free of charge to all very soon!

This work in progress mod is called ‘OZV8’ and it represents a first known attempt to complete a mod using partial funding from a simple crowd funding joint venture where SRA seeks to engage the wider sim racing communities support to assist them finish the mod to the exacting, high standards they have set.

SRA have a few exciting plans in place the development of this mod and would they would like to share them with you;
The OZV8 mod will proudly feature Studio quality physics and sounds as developed by Reiza Studio’s for the OZV8 mod under full approval. This will ensure this mod is going to be the most realistic driving representation of any V8SC mod you have ever seen!

Further SRA are contracting all developmental aspects of this mod out too skilled professional’s to ensure only the highest quality of workmanship is achieved.

And lastly, the team at SRA seek to engage you, the wider sim racing community too support them with assisting them with the completion of the mod via a simple crowd funding program that offers various bonuses and investor incentives for you to get involved with the mod on the “ground floor” – Incentives such as custom liveries included in the mod for businesses (Pagnian Imports, SRH or the DSD styles of companies for example), or on a personal level having the crowd funding supporters names feature on the race car side windows of the cars and so on. Some of these options are limited to ensure exclusivity so you would need to be fast!

Despite having a fictional name and fictional paint jobs (paint templates will be released later), all five cars will be accurate renditions of the Supercars 2015 manufacturer body styles, and, the OZV8 mod will also include the current range of GEN2 aero kits to match.

Owners of Stock Car Extreme (and other platforms) are now formally invited to get behind this ambitious project easily by visiting the projects crowd funding page located at CROWD FUND PAGE and make a pledge, - until then everybody can enjoy a few WIP sneak peeks of some of the car’s below.

a quanto pare il progetto, che si fonde con i MAK Corp, passa su Assetto Corsa e rFactor 2

Since our announcement just yesterday we have received overwhelmingly positive replies from the majority percentage of you who have been extremely supportive of our update newsletter regarding the incorporation of the OZV8 mod into MAK Corp Studios as a necessary means to ensure we can deliver you the best V8 Supercars racing experiences possible.

The larger majority of you have seen this news as extremely positive and we thank you for your ongoing support!

Regarding the very small number of pledgers whom have requested refunds; In answering your questions;

Crowd funding programs are by their very nature a risk. One chooses by their own volition to buy into the project (or not) and in doing so choose essentially to ride the waves of ups and downs the project will no doubt inevitably navigate - together united as a team on the journey that is the process of developing any given project.

On the nature of crowd funding (and we quote as written by Indiegogo);

We must all understand crowd funding initiatives will absolutely see change and need to be altered due to outside influences, technical difficulties, legal requirements, unforeseen circumstances, unexpected events out of our control (such as suppliers not delivering), or perhaps even the technology not being available to achieve a desired outcome.

These are just a few examples of how crowd fund projects could be forced to make change on the fly, and our project is no different.

For example; Lets look at Project Cars crowd fund run via the World of Mass Development process. A high profile crowd fund project.

Not every single feature that was promised to it’s pledgers was delivered. In fact, many, many features were completely hobbled, drastically changed, or in many cases omitted entirely.
This did not become apparent until the final few weeks of the titles development as the SMS team announced these changes/alterations or omissions very late in the development phase.
Did the people who pledged to this project receive refunds because of these changes? No, They didn’t.

In our case; changing of the platform tools the game is being delivered on is in our professional opinion unequivocally the right decision and one we feel justified by the many positive replies we have already received from the larger majority % of our pledgers as being seen to be a step in the right direction.

We advise and we seek to be clear on the fact that we are in fact delivering you more now.

  • Two platforms instead of one older almost extinct one.
  • New feature set.
  • New car models which will have greatly improved interiors than our previous.
Further; the new game platforms (lets not forget we are delivering on two platforms now, not just one) used, house features that the aging SCE platform could only dream of having,
  • Busy and vibrant communities.
  • Populated online lobbies. (SCE online activity is almost non existent).
  • Real time weather effects.
  • Tyre choices to meet weather requirements including ambient temperature change accordingly.
  • Day, Night racing cycles.
  • Updates for new seasons?.
  • Live road rubbering in to name a just a few;
We inform you all the pledge money was used to pay the first 3D artist who we later found was selling us models we couldn't use, but also devalued them by selling them too another party. Due to it being hard to take legal action against artists overseas for such small amounts, MAK-Corp has stepped in to develop the mod and help OZV8 produce the promised content to it's pledgers. Those requesting refunds must understand that the original 3D artist is the one who has made away with the money and that OZV8 cannot possibly provide refunds as we have taken steps to continue the development with another team and update it to a greater platform.

As you can clearly see we are now offering you all a host of new features that were not even mentioned in our original crowd campaign. We are not asking for extra money for these new feature sets – that’s not even on the table and never, ever was - We are delivering them responsibly because we can and well... just because we should, no questions asked.

The necessary change will also now mean the mod can now be enjoyed by more people for many, many more years to come by nature of the fact SCE is heading towards end of life as it’s developer is starting to talk about it’s future platform options (2016), whilst the newer Assetto Corsa and rFactor 2 titles are still in a extended (perpetual?) beta phase and therefore offer a much longer expected life time for you to use the mod and enjoy it.

In closing, we advise, given that we have not reneged on the product’s conceptual entirety (in fact we have upgraded the features of the mod as outlined already), but merely only changed the platforms delivery tools we inform we will not be providing pledge refunds.

The crowd funding platform providers do have steps that allow you to seek refund – of this you can be certain.

This process weighs up your request against our alternative offering (AC and rF2) to see if the product being delivered is of lesser completion, and or is severely hobbled; and if so, advises you seek private litigation.
Never the less, we have spoken with our legal team and we have been advised we have a strong case that we are not delivering less because the platform tools used to deliver the “OZV8”mod don’t negatively change the product and in fact allows it to be upgraded.
We thank you all for your understanding, your ongoing support and we look forward to delivering you all the worlds best V8 Supercars mod in Q1 2016 for your enjoyment.

Kind regards,
MAK-Corp – OZV8 Mod Team

considerato che il modding team ha raccolto ben 1800 dollari di donazioni per realizzare il mod su GSCE, che ora non vuole restituire, il team Reiza ha chiarito la sua posizione:

Usually do my best to avoid washing dirty laundry in public. It invariably reflects badly on all involved, and if ever required it´s seldom going to be when dealing with people worth being dealt with reasonably, only attracting further mudslinging.

However since we seem to have become implicated in this, and since we did have some tangential involvement with this project (thus playing a part in possibly lending it unwarranted credibility), I feel we should explain a few things.

Late last year OZV8 folks approached us with the idea of producing an Australian V8 mod for GSCE and asking if we had plans to do one or could help them put such project together as a mod. They were told to no uncertain terms we could not get involved in the production of a mod, but if they had a 3D model they wanted to share with us, we could use it to produce a car in GSCE with our sounds and physics to kickstart things, which they could then use as a base for their own project.

It was again made explicitly clear however that for various reasons we could not / would not get involved at all in its production beyond this one generic car, specially if it were to use real brands, and specially if they had plans to crowdfund for it as they suggested they would. This is well documented and our non-involvement beyond supplying them with sounds and physics was made publicly clear in this very thread when their methods already began to appear questionable.

They did supply us with a 3D model earlier on, which was the base for what is now the SuperV8. Once question marks were raised about its precedence however, we completely reformed the model to the point its final published form bares little actual resemblance with the original model besides the base shape. In any case, if someone feels their work has been misused, or if OZV8 can demonstrate they did pay for the full rights to the original model, please feel free to contact me so we can try work something out for your trouble.

Later on, as they began having trouble to complete the project, OZV8 came to us for help – which again, we never were in position to offer. All our vehicle art production is outsourced to independent contractors, and these people naturally expect to be paid for their work. There aren´t (or weren´t at the time anyway) people on Reiza clock we could assign to help develop free mods for third parties, even if that made any sense to begin with :)

We did offer them contacts to these developers so they could try work something out to finish their project. Unfortunately from what I understand the 3D models they had supposedly acquired were not up to a workable standard and would have to be redone almost from scratch, which obviously they were not budgeted for.

At this point, faced with the choice of either taking responsibility for misjudging their venture and having a honest discussion with their backers to decide the best way to rectify the situation, or running for the hills while deflecting blame to the people who actually tried to help them put it together, they unfortunately seem to have chosen the latter route.

From our side and the communication I did carry with these guys, I cannot say OZV8 appeared to be lacking in good faith when they first proposed the mod – credit where it´s due, if not for their initiative we probably wouldn’t have pushed on to create the SuperV8 in GSCE. But they clearly underestimated what is involved in creating such a project, and now are not doing a very good job of handling themselves in the aftermath.

So if OZV8 want to reply to this and set the record straight with your supporters in a mature manner free to PM me, and I´ll allow you to include it in this thread so you can direct them to your own private place where you guys can talk it over. If however you prefer to continue to deflect blame for starting a crowdfunding project before you had a full grasp on what you were doing, well there are clearly other places where you can get on a soapbox about it.
