VELOCIPEDE Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 http://www.wmdportal.com/projectnews/oli-webb-test-drives-project-cars/ A few weeks after Ben Collins joined us in London for a test session, Slightly Mad Studios had the pleasure of welcoming another highly-skilled race car driver to our headquarters yesterday. British Formula Renault 3.5 driver Oliver “Oli” Webb graced our humble offices for an extensive test session of our WMD-powered Project CARS title. Born in Manchester in 1991, Oli has been a successful competitor in several high-profile open-wheel racing series, including Formula Renault UK, British Formula Three and Indy Lights. In 2013, Oli raced in the Formula Renault 3.5 championship as well as contesting one-off events such as the Spa Francorchamps 24 Hours in a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3. To find out more about Oli and his career, make sure to check out his website. Being involved with the development of Briggs Automotive’s BAC Mono, Oli was keen to give the virtual version of his car a spin, sharing his impressions with our development team afterwards. Oli provided very detailed feedback on the car’s handling and even the smallest design details such as the carbon materials used on the car. It’s this type of specific feedback from people involved in the car & racing industry that help Slightly Mad Studios make Project CARS the ultimate racing experience we’re striving for. WMD members can check out a full run-down of the meeting by clicking here. Those who aren’t part of our forums can check out some photos and a video below, showing Oli in action with the BAC Mono and discussing some of his feedback with our Creative Director Andy Tudor & Lead Producer Pete Morrish afterwards.
VELOCIPEDE Posted December 10, 2013 Author Posted December 10, 2013 Today, Oli has traded in the virtual world for a real-life race track again and Project CARS proudly tagged along for the ride!Oli took Sebastien Loeb Racing’s Oreca 03 protoype in Spain for a test drive earlier today and Project CARS made a prominent appearance on the Nissan-powered LMP2 car as you can see below! Aside from moving his impressive career another step forward, the test will give Oli plenty of new insight to report back to our development team, helping Project CARS to blur the lines between real racing and gaming even further.Players will be able to relive all the excitement of Oli’s experience as the ORECA 03 will make a prominent appearance in Project CARS and, thanks to Oli’s feedback, handle exactly like its real-life counterpart.Born in Manchester in 1991, Oli Webb has been a successful competitor in several high-profile open-wheel racing series, including Formula Renault UK, British Formula Three and Indy Lights. In 2013, Oli raced in the Formula Renault 3.5 championship as well as contesting one-off events such as the Spa Francorchamps 24 Hours in a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3. VELOCIPEDE Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 Oli è tornato dagli Slightly Mad Studios per registrare la sua voce da utilizzare nelle chiamate radio ai box
VELOCIPEDE Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 Oli Webb “Being the test and development driver for BAC, I was first approached by Slightly Mad Studios to consult on the handling of the BAC Mono in-game. Once I realised just how authentic it felt already though, I was hooked! From that point I started working further with the team on the handling of all the cars to ensure they were as real as possible to those I was fortunate enough to have raced in real life. For the tracks, I could give input after coming back from ‘hard to get to’ tracks such as the Indy 500, Monaco and Le Mans 24h to ensure the team had the most up-to-date info possible and they felt completely authentic. I feel very lucky to have worked with such a great team and the first race game, I believe, of a new era.” This post has been promoted to an article
