The Ultimate F1 2011 Troubleshooting Thread

http://community.cod...ing-thread.html

Audio

Problem: There is no "Hardware" acceleration option under the audio settings as there was in F1 2010.

Solution: It seems that the Hardware acceleration support has been dropped in F1 2011. Try using Rapture3D. It is claimed that on a modern machine, this driver can outperform even high end dedicated audio solutions.

Problem: I'm using the Rapture3D audio driver but I have sound lag

Solution: Try updating the Rapture3D driver as described by Helios here. This has resolved the problem for many players.

Controllers

Problem: My controller preferences don't seem to be being saved?

Solution: When you start the game, if you use the keyboard to get past the sign-in and autosave warnings, the keyboard is selected as the default input method. Try navigating these screens using the controller you are wanting to race with.

Gameplay

Problem: My load times are really long (PC)

Solution: When running in DirectX 9, and with VSync set to "on" in the graphics options, load times are 2-4 times longer than normal. This issues does not seem to occur under DirectX 11. The only workaround for this is to switch off VSync if you want/have to run the game under DirectX 9.

Problem: There is a strange rain/snow effect coming from my car that persists between race restarts.

Solution: This problem has been reported by a small handful of users. The only thing you can do at the moment it go back to the main menu and start the grand prix session again.

Problem: My machine easily meets the minimum requirements for the game, and most of the time it runs well, but every now and then the game stutters for around a quarter of a second.

Solution: A handful of users experienced a similar issue with F1 2010. Some users report that making the games replay cache file ("replay.pbf") read-only. I never experienced this issue with F1 2010, so I'm not sure if there are any side affects from performing this operation (logic says you might not be able to view replays anymore, but I've no idea.)

Graphics

Problem: My Game keeps crashing on the loading / autosave screens!

Solution: If you are running the game under DX11, try switching to DX9 in the graphics settings. please report any game crashes in this thread.

Problem: DX11 mode seems to be causing game crashes!

Solution: First, try turning VSync off in the graphics menu. If this doesn't help try running the game under DX9. Please report any DX 11 crashes with as much detail as you can in this thread.

Problem: My Game's running in a window, how can I get it back to full screen?

Solution: With focus on the game window, press Alt + Enter on your keyboard. You can use this while in full screen to toggle back out to a window again too smile.gif.

Problem: I've got multiple powerful graphics cards in Crossfire but performance is poor.

Solution: Try disabling crossfire. Some users have found that crossfire actually costs them performance rather than improves it with F1 2011 - even with the new ATI application profiles installed.

Problem: I'm suffering from other graphical issues (corruption and/or poor performance).

Solution[PC]: Please check that your machine meets the minimum specifications. Then check you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. Follow the guide below for help with upgrading your graphics card drivers to the latest available:

If you have an Nvidia GPU, get the latest drivers here or if you have an ATI GPU get the latest drivers here.

Note: Uninstalling/Reinstalling drivers can (and probably will) remove any custom preferences you have setup within the driver. For example Nvidia users may loose any custom application profile settings you have set.

If you are having issues upgrading your graphics drivers via the normal method, then try a clean install of your graphics card drivers as detailed below.

  1. Have the latest drivers downloaded and saved somewhere easy to find wink.gif
  2. Uninstall your current drivers via control panel (Or search for "Uninstall a Program") in the Windows Start menu. Select Nvidia Display Drivers or Similar for Nvidia cards and ATI Catalyst or similar for ATI Cards (If someone want's to chip in with the correct program names, feel free smile.gif).
  3. Restart the machine
  4. Run the setup file for your new drivers. If you have an Nvidia card and the latest drivers, there should be an option for a "Clean Install" on one of the first setup screens. Tick this box to be certain sure your drivers are fully updated properly. I've been informed that a similar "clean install" options exists for ATI users too. A clean driver install is the best way to ensure that your hardware is working properly.
