Public beta of ETS2 Update 1.22 available on Steam
Complete your first World of Trucks Contract now!

Update 1.22 for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is entering Open Beta on Steam today.
The update comes with a ton of improvements and fixes (see below), but for us the central new feature are Contracts - a new kind of jobs available from World of Trucks. During this public beta we will be testing the robustness of our server infrastructure, and watching for errors across the job-dispensing system. As always, we are looking looking forward to your feedback and reports of any bugs you may help us find.

At last we have reached the end of a long but extremely helpful open beta period for one of the largest game updates so far. We are happy to announce that ETS2 update to version 1.22 is released.
Over the period of the last two weeks, over 22500 people participated in our open beta. Over 85000 World of Trucks contracts were completed. The feedback was great, plenty of issues have been spotted and fixed or polished. Thank so much to all beta participants!

Let's do a short recap of major items that made this update:

VEHICLES

  • Improved truck's chassis geometry by adjusting fifth wheel position for most of 6x2, 6x4 chassis's to decrease under steering under full throttle

CODE

  • When shifter layout is named (new attribute "name"), the name string is shown in game for better recognition
  • Hired drivers are more efficient when equipped by good truck
  • User defined limit for length of generated jobs in the offline economy (g_job_distance_limit)
  • User defined LOD distance for pedestrian, traffic and parked cars; multiplier of default distance (g_lod_factor_pedestrian, g_lod_factor_traffic, g_lod_factor_parked)
  • Config for disabling "Autoparking" dialogue (g_adviser_auto_parking)
  • Config for disabling Route Advisor popups when hidden (g_adviser_keep_hidden)
  • Fixing missing world on low-end GPUs on OSX
  • Improved physics and stability of trailers (disconnected, parked, AI)

AI

  • User defined traffic density, defined by multiplier to default (g_traffic)
  • Improved simulation of suspension (leaning in curves or when accelerating/decelerating)
  • Improved navigation, lane switching, spawning and obstacle checking

SOUND

  • New sounds for Volvo FH16 Classic
  • New sounds for Volvo FH

Vive la France!

It's time to start showing you more stuff from the various new things we have in the pipeline. We are not a one-project-at-a-time company any more, there are several new cool things under development in our labs now!
Euro Truck Simulator 2 map team is hard at work on a new major DLC expansion for the game. We are expanding the little bit of France we have in the game now to cover the whole country. This also includes a lot of touches to the existing areas (total overhaul of Paris region for example). The changed parts of the world will of course still be accessible in the base game, even if they are upgraded visually.
Here is a couple of appetizer images from a more rural part of the world. It's work in progress still (you will notice some placeholders for new trees and shrubs in some of the shots).

Steam Workshop support coming!

workshop_4.jpg

Greetings truckers!
We are working now on update 1.23 for ETS2, and 1.2 for ATS. One of the major features coming with the updates is support for Steam Workshop. This feature is a really long time coming, considering that all of our projects always were popular for user modifications.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 Update 1.23 in Open Beta Now!

We are happy to announce that open beta of Update 1.23 for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now available on Steam.
We are bringing a lot of changes in the core game; you will find a condensed change-log at the bottom of this blog post. Let us introduce the major additions with more detail:

Steam Workshop
ets2_steam_workshop.jpg

Steam Workshop is a hub which allows simple distribution of game modifications created by community. Thanks to Steam Workshop, you can download and install mods effortlessly from a safe and trusted place.
Here's a short how-to on downloading and activating mods from Steam Workshop:

  1.  Launch the game, go to the "Mod Manager" screen, and click on the "Steam Workshop" button in the top part of the window. The Steam in-game browser will appear and you will see the game's Steam workshop page.
  2. Go to "Items", select a mod which is interesting for you, and click on the green subscribe [+] button. Steam will automatically download the mod. When it is ready, you will see the mod in Mod Manager.
  3. Double click on the mod to activate it and then click on the "Confirm Changes" button in the bottom part of Mod Manager,
  4. Load your profile and try your mod. (note: pay attention to mod loading priority to avoid mod incompatibilities)
SCS Workshop Uploader app

Modding our games through Steam Workshop will require use of a dedicated tool for mod makers; a new dedicated Steam application - SCS Workshop Uploader. You can grab it from your Steam library under Tools category.
We have also prepared a Wiki with full SCS Steam Workshop Uploader documentation and modding tutorials where you can find guidance how to use our tools for mod creation.
Please note that at the moment we do not include support for map mods in the Uploader, this will come later but it requires more work on sanitization of all the data making up the map.

Ultimate Wheel Customization

ETS2_wheel_collage_sample.jpg

As previewed in one of our previous blogs, we have expanded wheel customization options to match real-world customization flexibility. Wheels now consist of a tyre, a disk, nuts, a hub and a hub cover, and you can choose and tune each of them separately. We have recreated the old wheels in the game from these building blocks, but you can mix and match them freely now to get many more combinations. We have also tweaked the materials to bring you alu-disks which are the most regular type of disks used.

Here's is log of additional fixes and improvements that went into this update:

At last, updates 1.23 for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and 1.2 for American Truck Simulator are live. We would like to thank everybody who participated in the extended open beta. We have received a huge amount of valuable feedback that made us re-engineer some elements of Steam Workshop support to make it more robust.

  • SCS Workshop Uploader app - Modding our games through Steam Workshop will require use of a dedicated tool for mod makers; a new dedicated Steam application - SCS Workshop Uploader. You can grab it from your Steam library under Tools category.

It has been great to see so many mods appearing on Steam Workshop already during the open beta. For those of you not yet familiar with Steam Workshop, we have created the following short step-by-step video explaining the process of adding a mod to our game.
