August 6, 2008 - Welcome New iRacers!

This week marks another significant milestone for the iRacing service. With the latest wave of invitations going out, we anticipate thousands of new members will be joining our community over the next few days. We're thrilled to welcome this latest group of iRacers into our ranks, and our Support team, racing officials and staff will do everything we can to help ensure an outstanding racing experience for everyone, whether this is your first week or your 31st.

Beta testing and a month's worth of invitation-only launch experience have taught us that we need your help, too, to keep iRacing.com a fun, exciting, friendly destination for racers of all backgrounds, interests and skill levels - and this will never be more true than at a time when so many new members are joining the service over such a short period of time.

First and foremost, we must all be courteous and respectful to each other at all times, both on track and off. Misunderstandings happen in any competitive environment, but with so many new members acclimating to the simulation and the community, the chances for controversy increase substantially. The iRacing community standards for good sportsmanship are high. They are set forth in detail in the FIRST Sporting Code, and whether you're new to iRacing or have been a member since the beginning, you must to adhere to these rules - and not having read them is not an excuse.

New members, in addition to reading and understanding the Sporting Code, please remember that your focus during these first few days should be on getting used to the iRacing simulation, the member site and the community. Your next priority should be incident-free driving to build your Safety Rating. This is no time to take chances on track. You'll have plenty of time for close battles and hard-fought victories later.

While we take the Sporting Code and member conduct very seriously, we do so only to ensure that iRacing is fun for everyone. And speaking of fun, this season we've added two new series outside of the normal ladders of progression for the Oval and Road categories. Make sure to check out the previously announced SK Modified Weekly Series and the all-new Legends Weekly Road Racing Cup. Both are open to holders of Class D or higher competition licenses, or Rookies with a 4.0 or higher Safety Rating, in the appropriate category (see the series pages for full details). We hope you enjoy them and look forward to seeing you on track.
