elwood Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Looks perfect. Finaly a easy tool for newbys. And I believe those newby will upgrade for a more sofisticated tool when his skils raise enough. Good news I hope so... but many modders, without a sandbox, giveup. This is a technical exercise by my side, a little bit scared to see a trackmania style editor for rF, just figuring out the tons of fantasy tracks on rfc i'm throwing up. Bob's track builder is different, at least you can change various track properties, banks, altimetric changes, width, all with bezier splines.. but No chance anyway, you need to learn how to use a decent modeler, as Lightwave, Max, Maya, Blender... and so on, for final terrain base and track environment completion. Meny guys that are involved with software houses don't use 3dsMax for base modeling and mapping, they use it for finalizing the models in the engine often. I understand that things are getting more complicated, shaders, mapping, deforming, lofting, vertex colors/alpha and a lot of things, and now there are dx10 API to learn. Anyway the net is full of tutorials for EVERYTHING and there are a lot of books in stores with exercises for noobs, if someone is really motivated, don't give up. Monsum (Virtua_LM LeMans) start using Max few months before starting to model the track, motivation, passion... that's the way... IMHO.
Guest daviking Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Hi Guys, First of all I totally disagree with Elwood on this one..! To me RacePark looks more like the salvation of Sim Racing more than anything else, really.. For many years making addon tracks for sim racing games, was only meant for the small "royal" club of tech strong guys. Now the Hungarian Track Guru - Alexease - The salvation of the common Sim Guy, finally broke the barrier of fixing track tech with ease, so everybody can produce great tracks.! RacePark is in my mind the largest Milestone in more than 10 years for the racing sim scene.. Alexease just dared to do what countles sim racing producing companies failed to do up untill now.. A Big Cheers To You Alexease - The True Hungarian Track Maestro / The Peoples True Choice.!! A few important requests, to help making RaceParks the Track Maker of the Century...: 1.Please implement elevation changes, very important to many guys.. 2.Please enable easy additional track pieces prodduction, for the community. 3.Please implement large scale track creation area. very important for rally style tracks. 4.Please implement easy tech track file handlin (AIW)...etc.. 5.Please take no notice of the few negative guys.!! 6.Please make this a free community editor..! 7.Please consider RP support GTR 2, GTL & Race 2007 when its soon released.. 7.Please release RP - ASAP, lots of guys are waitin.! Cheers From, Daviking...
