rFactorCentral is a project being developed by me - Mombassa/Morpheus - as a way of saying thanks to the rFactor community. I can't mod, can't drive that well either come to think of it, but maybe this type of site will help the community, or just remain a fun project for me and anyone interested - either is ok!

The overall aim of rFactorCentral.com is to help bring some order and ease to finding and downloading rFactor car mods, track mods, game addons and utilities that install and work reliably, and meet a basic set of criteria - not an exclusive league type thing tho - something open to and driven by everyone and anyone in the rfactor community.

So basically/hopefully, you'll be able to rock up to rFactorCentral and know that anything for download via the site has been evaluated against a set of community agreed standards and is good to go. Hopefully you'll also be able to get a good overall feel for the mods you are interested in, as well as quick access to relevant key links for those mods.

It started of as me just wanting a web based admin to keep track of what mods I'd found and progressed to this kinda thing... a big glorified bookmarker!

The Monterery/Laguna Track profile above gives the best example of what a finished/certified mod profile on the site might look like.

The site is (sorry to say it) a WIP! Yes it's pretty rough and unfinished atm - lots of content and features to add, if you come across errors.. well, you probably will, I'll get to fix those. I've only done enough to convey the overall idea. It's basically all database driven, from the menus, to the various mods, to the ratings, to the cert team, to the cert criteria - you get the idea! There's a web admin that makes the site easy to maintain.

My hope is that members of the rFactor community might become involved in rFactorCentral:

- by making suggestions, criticisms etc about what the site should be

- by contributing content, screenies, links to the site via the forms etc

- by rating mods on the site

- by suggesting criteria the certification team should use to evaulate mods

- by joining the Cert team which will evaluate mods against a set of criteria developed and agreed upon by the community

- by providing mirror servers to assist with certified file downloads

Like to help?

You can get straight into it by using the Submit links at the bottom of every page to submit links, screenies and mods. There's credits for pretty much everything from memory. You can also rate the mods on the site without logging in anywhere - the red star ratings are the community ratings.

Like to help even more?

If you'd like to play a bigger role, I'm really wanting to find a team of people to help certify mods. PeterV for example on checking naming and folder structures!

I'm imagining that everyone would only assess one aspect of a mod and report on that. to minimize the workload and balance the overall evaluation. It might be you only assess an aspect of a mod every now and then, whenever you can etc. The Cert team is responsible for the purple stars on the Monterey page, and click the the Cert Team comments link and identities are there too.

If you'd like to help with rFactorCentral you are welcome to contact me.

Either way, I think we need to work out and generally agree on a set of standards we can all use to evaluate basic/core functionality of mods.

Have fun!
