Guest roudim Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 I have a problem with nkdaemond v0.96. When i launch my server with this program, my server is in the server list, but i can't connected on my server with netkar. When i put the ip adress in the windows custumer server, i click on "add" and nothing happend, like the ip adress is not the good one. I have a wifi modem.
Guest max 2 Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 a wifi modem??? is it a router or what??? to host a server in netkar u have to use a public IP, if u use a router with a public IP u need to remap the port that the games use to ur PC. let'smake an example to make it clear: perfect situation: U have a MODEM on our machine that connects u directo to the internet,so u host a server, u give ur IP (trought nkdaemon for example) to ur friends, and they connect to the game, u should always use the IP 127.0.0.1 that is standart for localmachine. bad case: You have a router (wifi or not dosn't change), so u are connect to the internet via LAN + router, your machine IP is a local addres that can't be seen from the internet, your router has 2 IPs, the local one that u use as a gateway to connect to the internet, and the public one that it recives when the router is connected to the provider. example PC, IP:192.168.0.9 Router, IP Lan:192.168.0.1 IP Internet:80.180.158.222 when u connect to have PC->Router->internet so u can connec to outside server if someone is tring to connect to ur PC internet->Roputer->???? if u don't map the port of the router sayng that all the connection on port xxxx have to be send to ur PC u can't make people connect to ur PC if u have a router. for netkar it's hard to remap all the port becouse they are many and a ind of random. may my explanation is horrible but if u have a router just forget to host a server.
