With limited amount of time for practice if you turn up at a race or test already dialled into the track you’ll be one step ahead of the competition. A simulator will never replace real time experience but it will enable you to maximise that precious track time. I was lucky enough to be involved with McLaren, Red Bull and Toyota with all their simulators and I learnt a great deal; what is important and what really isn’t important. Those sims were all focused on engineering work and that’s why they cost a huge amount of money where our simulators are about driver development and circuit familiarisation.
