Known Issues :

It's a TEST patch - there may be problems - do let us know of any you find. I expect to release another TEST Patch quite soon, with some more fixes and more translations. Japanese, and Polish are currently being developed. You may be able to find them in the languages section, or their authors may post here when they are ready. Please could the authors let me know if their translations are ready and tested, so i can include them in the next patch.

TEST Patch P9

Hello again! Here's TEST Patch P9 with a lot more fixes, in various parts of the program.

Language support changes :

ANSI Codepage of selected Keyboard is automatically detected

Selectable language names now displayed in their own language

Improved size of tyre temperature and suspension damage text

Hold CTRL in text box to show manual codepage selector buttons

New ^9 code - restore original colour without changing codepage

FIX : Space bar on Russian keyboard was not stopping host list

FIX : System messages / race control messages in wrong codepage

FIX : Player names appearing wrongly or corrupting text strings

FIX : Selector initiated by input box stopped F key closing box

Other changes :

Pit stop required (yes or OK=done) is now shown in the F12 menu

Faster text draw by using fewer, bigger textures (less swapping)

SHIFT+O now enters options from setup screen (same as in game)

Join screen shows selected player and gives access to options

FIX : Holding SHIFT+X from in-game put LFS into a strange state

FIX : Repeated message "Could not load colours - using default"

FIX : Crash if track changed when user was in select car screen

FIX : No mid-race join option now only active if 2 cars in race

FIX : Last key pressed in text box could activate its function

FIX : TAB and SHIFT+TAB should now show all cars and not crash

FIX : Page Up and Page Down keys generated " and ! characters

FIX : Small numerical error in foot-pounds and bar units

Known Issues :

I'm not sure, until i hear back from the users who can switch keyboards, but it may be annoying that they need to switch keyboard when the text box is not open - because it will use the code page that was selected when they first pressed T... anyway, let me know if it seems good or bad - any ideas for improving it!

NOTE 2 : (edit)

If you see duplicates of some languages, in your list of languages to select, please delete the contents of the language folder, and re-install the patch. Anyone can do this safely, as a useful cleanup - the patch contains all language files.

[ Explanation : Some languages were renamed to exclude accents. Although LFS is coded to ignore language filenames with accents, Windows sometimes reports them without an accent, so in that case, the obsolete files are sometimes visible. Funnily enough, that's probably on the same computers that were causing the problem that made me need to change the naming of the files. ]
