Billy Monger torna in pista a Brands Hatch!

       (0 reviews)

Teenage racing driver Billy Monger, who lost both legs in a horrific crash earlier this year, will attempt to walk Brands Hatch circuit this Saturday (30 September) to raise money for the air ambulance that saved him.
Billy's lower legs were amputated following his crash in a British Formula 4 race at Donington Park at Easter, just days before his 18th birthday. A subsequent fundraising campaign reached almost a million pounds, which helped fund the prosthetic legs which he'll use for his walk this weekend at the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season finale.
In May, Billy joined supporters and well-wishers for a track walk at Brands Hatch's sister circuit Oulton Park in Cheshire, where he used a specially-adapted golf cart which allowed him to practise driving with hand controls.

This weekend, Billy returns to the circuit where he first got back behind the wheel - an incredible 11 weeks after his accident. Billy drove a VW Beetle-style racing car with steering wheel-mounted hand controls.
Billy is inviting race fans and fellow competitors to join him on his walk this weekend to help raise money for the air ambulance. Saturday ticket holders can join him from around 6pm outside the Power Maxed Racing garage in the BTCC pit lane - this can be accessed via the pedestrian tunnel in front of the Brabham/Stewart suites.
Billy is aiming to make his racing return later this year in the VdeV Endurance Proto Series, alongside quadruple amputee Frederic Sausset who has previously raced at Le Mans.

Announcing his track walk on social media, Billy said: "It's time for me to give back. As you all know, without the help of the incredible team of medics and the Air Ambulance I most likely wouldn't be here today. I feel that for all the support I've been shown in the past few months I want to share my progress with you guys for an amazing cause. Please Join me as I plan to walk as much of the Brands Hatch circuit as possible. We plan to start the walk at roughly 6:00pm outside the Power Maxed Racing garage on the Saturday going towards the Air Ambulance."
