Dopo la Dallara Indycar, ecco arrivare una nuova vettura extra per l'americano SimRaceWay: si tratta della mitica e bellissima BMW M1 Procar del 1978!
The M1 was the original “M” car, hand-built by BMW ’s motorsport division between 1978 and 1981. The marque’s only mass-produced mid-engined car was brought to life following an agreement with Lamborghini to build a production racer in sufficient quantity for homologation. It was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who was responsible for a long list of renowned models, including the Lotus Esprit .The heavily-modified M1 Procar racer was unleashed in 1979 to contest the manufacturer’s newly-devised one-make series, the BMW M1 Procar Championship. It featured race-optimized suspension and redesigned brakes but, despite its prominent front spoiler and adjustable rear wing, the Italian designer’s handiwork was still very much in evidence when it made its track debut. Underneath, however, the Procar was a completely different animal, with the M1’s 3.5-liter M88 straight-six having been transformed into a 470-bhp fire-breathing monster, capable of propelling the slimmed-down, 2,200-lb racer to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and to a top speed of nearly 200 mph.
