Just ahead of the start of 2008 Season 4, the iRacing Development Team has released a new version of our simulation software, which includes some significant and frequently requested features and improvements. Along with this new build (and in part because of it) comes an updated version of the FIRST Official Sporting Code.

Please remember that while downloading the new software is easy and only requires a few clicks of a mouse, you should allow at least 30 minutes for the update so as to avoid the possibility of missing your next session.
Headlining the list of enhancements included in this latest version of the iRacing software are yellow flags on ovals, pit stops and engine-damage modeling. For full details, visit the Announcements section of the member forum and read the accompanying release notes.
The implementation of yellow flags on ovals and the introduction of pit stops are likely to have a significant effect on competition. This is particularly true in the new Class C Chevy Silverado Championship, where races are scheduled to be approximately one hour in length and fuel mileage and tire wear are likely to necessitate at least one stop.
To help manage these new aspects of competition the FIRST Official Sporting Code has been updated. In addition to new Yellow Flag Procedures, a driver may now only use “Enter/Exit/Tow Car” (a.k.a. “Reset”) to repair damage once per race; last season two resets were allowed. Other changes include the addition of private messaging to the
Code of Conduct and the definition (and prohibition) of blocking.
Version 20081029.3 of the FIRST Official Sporting Code is now available under Reference on the main navigation bar above. If you prefer to review only the modified sections of the Sporting Code, a red-lined version of the document is available in the Announcements section of the member forum. Remember, all iRacers must read and abide by the latest version of this document!
