QuoteBased on the conversations we've seen across the discord and social media we have created a very small FAQ which should hopefully answer your thoughts and concerns.
Why do we need this game?
The world of sim racing has been missing a dedicated rally simulation for over 20 years now and we feel that the rally community really deserves a title which is fully dedicated to the Rally scene and doesn't compromise on simulation value, physics, graphics and truly represents the passion for Rally. Assetto Corsa Rally releases at a critical time where no modern graphics and audio technology is currently paired with an advanced and deep physics engine in a rally game. For the first time ever in a rally sim, Assetto Corsa Rally features laser scanned cars and rally stages, night and day cycle and dynamic surfaces and weather, providing the best rally simulation that Supernova Games Studios can provide, answering a need from a very special community.
Why is rally not featured in EVO?
We feel that the rally scene deserves to have a sim that is fully dedicated to capturing all of the things that matter to rally enthusiasts.
Why is it on Unreal Engine 5 and not on the KUNOS Engine?
The developers within Supernova Games Studios have 10+ years of experience in Unreal Engine, so it made the most sense to have Assetto Corsa Rally developed in Unreal Engine. Assetto Corsa EVO has been developed with a proprietary engine, taking into account its needs of the racing tracks and game modes, cars and AI opponents, the free roaming terrain technology (which is also part of KUNOS tech) and all the future needs of Assetto Corsa EVO. A rally simulator has different technical needs and since it doesn't require a large amount of AI vehicles, this allows for an incredibly detailed suspension simulation across a wide variety of terrains. Even though the game engines are different, Assetto Corsa Rally has been built upon the same Physics Engine from other Assetto Corsa titles
Has Assetto Corsa Rally's development affected the development of Assetto Corsa EVO?
No - Assetto Corsa Rally has not affected the development of Assetto Corsa EVO. The technical partnership between Supernova and Kunos has mainly been between the physics, licensing and marketing departments within the brand. Assetto Corsa EVO is fully committed to evolving the Assetto Corsa franchise to the next level for track and free roaming simulations, while the team at Supernova Games Studios is fully committed to delivering a solid and accurate simulative rally driving simulator.
Is there an update on free roam in Assetto Corsa EVO?
Marco Massaruto and Davide Brivio, from Kunos Simulazioni, demonstrated free roam live at Sim Racing Expo 2025.
