       (0 reviews)

What role do you play in eSports? Is this something that the community picked up first or is it something that you encouraged from the getgo?

ANDY: We knew that there’s a portion of the public out there who are dedicated with beating their friends’ times, and we knew we had a system in the first game that would allow players to come back repeatedly and try and beat other people’s times.  So, we started using the eSports world and started cultivating these drivers and teams through a championship that we put on back in 2015. We had some prizes to give out and we treated it respectfully and treated it in a very regulated way, just like with other sports. That served us well.  So, in 2016, for Season 2, we expanded the contest and we got sponsored brands for two series.  We joined with the biggest E sports platform with ESL and I chose to work with them to expand some technical limitations that they had on their platform. And now we’ve actually done a multi-class championship.  We’ve put events on all over the world with partnerships like Audi and Ginetta.  And, yeah, it’s the kind of thing that really activates your audience. The fact that we have hundreds of people all playing the game on a very competitive level just two years after the release of the game is actually quite unheard of for our previous games, but it’s the norm in eSports in general. It adds longevity to your game.
