GameSpy: Explain the New Tire Model (NTM) to novice drivers -- what's so great about it, and how does it compare to competing tire systems?Dave Kaemmer, CEO/CTO: The new tire model is essentially a simulation within the simulation. Instead of trying to model tire forces using the results of a few experiments fitted to some curves, the model really simulates what's happening dynamically at the contact patch—the deflection of the tire carcass, the dynamics of the tread rubber and how it changes with temperature; many, many things are modeled that give a more dynamically correct response under the almost infinite variety of conditions on the race track.
