Ian Bell, CEO del team Slightly Mad Studios, ha confermato, rispondendo ad alcune domande sul forum di GT Planet, l'attuale sviluppo del nuovo Project CARS:
"You heard it here first. There will be a new pCARS, it's signed. I can't tell you anything but don't hold your breath on timings. We plan to blow anything else, planned by anyone else, out of the water... That will take a while. Ongoing kudos to this site".
Bell ha però anche precisato che il futuro Project CARS 3 (il nome non è ancora definito ovviamente), sarà un “more of a spiritual successor to Shift“, ovvero un successore spirituale del Need for Speed Shift sviluppato da Slightly Mad Studios nell'ormai lontano 2008. Evidentemente si va a deviare verso un titolo maggiormente arcade, più immediato e con un fattore di divertimento preponderante... Ian infatti precisa:
“I’ll let you know that pCARS3 will be more ‘focused’… More ‘fun’… We went to insane lengths with variation in pCARS2 and with that comes infinite balancing issues. We’ve learned a lesson here and although we have no intention of reducing content, we know what we need to fix, where we made design decisions that were, let’s call it, ‘sub-optimal’. PCARS3 will be more of a spiritual successor to Shift, but with all of the sim goodness everyone appreciates… The key focus though is on fun and not biting off more than we can properly chew and digest.”
Ovvero, in poche parole, Project CARS 3 sarà concentrato sul divertimento, perchè il risultato finale di PCARS 2 non ha soddisfatto gli sviluppatori (e neppure la maggioranza degli utenti a dire il vero!), anche se Ian, dicendo che il gioco sarà più un successore spirituale di Shift, ci tiene a precisare che non mancherà "la bontà del sim che tutti apprezzano"... Lo scetticismo è però a questo punto molto elevato. Voi cosa ne pensate?
