F1 Challenge: news 2003 Season by Hummerich

       (0 reviews)

I just like to give you some information about the Season 2003 final release we are currently creating... First of all let me write some lines about the driver changes in 2003. You all know, that we have various driver changes during the season 2003. Unfortunately F1C does not support driver changes during the season. So with that we cannot support the changes of Pizzonia, Wilson, Kiesa, Baumgartner, Gene and Sato...

    #CONTINUE#

So here is "my" point of view. IMHO the drivers who spend most of the races of the season in a certain cockpit should be included in the 2003RH final season pack. Actually that's exactly the same approach at is was chosen by EA in the original F1C99-02 game. So I do not see any reason to change this.

So just let me summarize some driver stats (
    see FIA's website):
    Jaguar:
    Pizzonia - 11/16 races
    Wilson - 5/16 races

    Minardi:
    Wilson - 11/16 races
    Kiesa - 5/16 races

    Jordan:
    Baumgartner  2/16

    Williams:
    Gene 1/16

    BAR:
    Sato 1/16

So in the default Season 2003 package we will have Pizzonia in the Jaguar and Wilison in the Minardi. IMHO it does not make much sens to reflect only the last 5 races in a Season 2003 update. The one or the other of you might think different. But we are also thinking about a small addon that offer the Driver changes in the Jaguar & Mianrdi Team - but this pack (when it will be ever available) will be a separate download.

The second topic I like to speak about is the "final pack" version and the "Expansion pack". The final Pack will include all cars with its liveries as we have seen it at the Japan GP. So when you "just" install this 'Final Version' you will see in the car selection screen the cars as we have seen them in Suzuka. This final version will not include any additional liveries (TB's & special skins [T3]).

As a separate download there will be an Expansion pack. This Pack will include the "none tobacco" textures for France, Great Britain and USA as well as some special textures for Jaguar and other teams. Additionally there will be various different shapes and textures for the different teams in order to simulate the different aero pack changes during the end of this season. Also included will be the Season 2002 Ferrari in the first races of 2003 and a lot of other changes for the other teams like Sauber, McLaren, Williams or Renault. As a special "present" there will be flat wings (shapes) for all teams for the high speed Monza circuit.

In order to avoid waste of a lot of HD space the Expansion pack will install some "mid season" shape and textures into the TEAM.MAS files (identical with the current v1.2b version). So in the car selection screen you will see the mid season version of the cars [and not as they where seen in Suzuka (in contrast to the default 'final' pack)]. So after the installation/update from v1.2b to the upcoming version you will not see any changes in this car selection screen – please do not wonder about this cause of course when you race in Germany, Hungary, Italia, USA or Japan you will have always the "correct" shapes & textures.
