VELOCIPEDE
What is ORC?ORC is a realistic racing simulator that is based on real world cars using a physics engine that was developed in partnership with a formula 1 team. This means that the simulator has been tried by a team of formula 1 engineers and tested by a formula 1 driver to ensure maximum realism. It is currently under development, for development news, please click the news buttonWhat are the important features of ORC?PhysicsThe absolutely most important feature is the accurate, constraint-based Vehicle Dynamics Engine that has been developed by Dr. Gregor Veble.NetworkingThe network engine has been developed to reduce the effects of lag in order to ensure close and fun racingGraphicsAn advanced shader based lighting model will bring the models to life, helping you feel part of the actionRankings / AchievementsThere are a number of goals for your to achieve in your racing career, you will able to view your achievements and how you rank against your friends and rivals. It will all be available without leaving the game! When will ORC be available?Unfortunately due to the way we are funded (i.e. not at all) our lead developer has had to get a full time job to pay the bills, this means that progress on ORC will be slow for a while. We hope we can find a way to work on ORC and still pay the bills . This means that the completion date is not known at this time http://onlineracingchampionship.com/ Hi Folks, I'm going to open up the alpha test forum for a while if you are interested in giving ORC a drive. Note, it's VERY much a TEST build at the moment, lots to do, but I'd like to get enough people to have some full Multiplayer servers to test the net code. You'll need a reasonably quick PC, preferably with a decent graphics card, although my 2 year old laptop with a built-in intel card runs it at ~50fps in singleplayer at least.I would like to get enough players to get decent feedback, but not so many that I am overwhelmed (I am working part-time to pay the bills)The URL is http://siroccoracing.com/forums/ . You'll find a link to the Alpha download thereWe have released a new alpha build that will hopefully address a couple of controller assignment problems that people have been having. Sign up at the ORC Alpha forums to download the latest build: -http://siroccoracing.com/forums . Please report any problems you have (big or small) as we want to keep ORC improving Emoticon smile This post has been promoted to an article

VELOCIPEDE
I'm redoing the Records / Achievements / Licenses / Ranking system. I want to integrate the stats deep into the game where the driver is presented with the relevant information at the right time. I'd like some feedback, what information do you find most useful / interesting? I am currently gathering information about sector times / laps / number of race wins / points - is there anything I am missing?I also have the concept of an ORC rank which is the sum of all your fastest times on all tracks compared with benchmark times. I hope to use the ORC rank to compare the outright speed of drivers, whereas I have a license colour system to determine the experience of the driver (from White License to Alien License). What are your thoughts on this - does it make sense? Any feedback welcome!
