Slightly Mad Studios are very proud to announce a major new addition to the lineup of vehicles available in Project CARS, as Mercedes-Benz is joining the WMD-powered title. Project CARS will feature nine famous cars from more than 100 years of Mercedes history, including both vintage & modern cars, street cars and racing machinery. Racing fans will enjoy some of the company’s most accomplished race cars, including the 1989 Le Mans-winning Sauber C9, the iconic 1990 190E 2.5-16 Evolution 2 DTM car as well as the 1998 CLK-LM. But we won’t stop there as Project CARS will also include Mercedes’ most current racing cars, the 2012 SLS AMG GT3, that is successfully racing in GT3-based series around the world, as well as the 2012 C-Class DTM challenger. Players that are more into road-going machinery will get plenty to play with as well as the 2013 A45 AMG and the 2010 SLS AMG Coupe are rounding out the choice of Mercedes automobiles in Project CARS.

Il team Simbin ha rilasciato per il suo RaceRoom Racing Experience la prima delle tre nuove vetture che arriveranno in questa settimana: si tratta della Ford GT GT1 che potete ammirare in un trailer di anteprima ed alcuni screens.

Slightly Mad Studios ha confermato tramite il forum ufficiale che il suo Project CARS, già di recente rimandato ai primi mesi del 2014, subirà un ulteriore ritardo e dovrebbe arrivare, se tutto andrà bene, per aprile dell’anno prossimo. Project CARS è in sviluppo per PC, Xbox 360, PS3 e Wii U e tutti questi ritardi fanno pensare che il team stia valutando una possibile conversione per le console di nuova generazione. Lo slittamento potrebbe però dipendere anche dall'inchiesta avviata dalla FSA nei confronti del sistema WMD utilizzato per finanziare il gioco.

La notizia è stata riportata da Eurogamer e potrebbe rivelarsi un serio problema per lo sviluppo ed il rilascio dell'ormai prossimo Project CARS: in pratica la Financial Services Authority (FSA) inglese ha posto sotto inchiesta già da dicembre scorso il sistema World of Mass Development utilizzato dal team Slightly Mad per raccogliere i fondi necessari allo sviluppo del gioco e che fino ad oggi ha portato nelle casse del team ben €2.3 milioni.

FSA: “As a general rule, it is not possible for a company to raise money by crowdfunding by means of a collective investment scheme model. This activity is likely to fall within the UK regulatory regime relating to unregulated collective investment schemes which prohibits the raising of money in this way.”

Andy Tudor, creative director Slightly Mad, ha dichiarato che il WMD non è e non è stato mai presentato come una forma di investimento: “I guarantee we never said it was an investment opportunity, ever, because we know the legal implications of calling it that.”

Ian Bell, fondatore Slightly Mad Studios: “Becoming the biggest developer on earth overnight would be newsworthy, which would pull in more investors. We suspect we might even get banks in looking for a 200 per cent – 500 per cent-plus return in 18 months. Imagine we sell 2 million units of the final game (Shift 1 did 5 million and Shift 2 is tracking well also). The revenue from those sales is approx. 70 million dollars. 5-7 million dev cost and a few more million for marketing, and we’re still looking at a very healthy return for the investors. The plan is that any investment into the development is exactly that, an investment.”

A quanto pare però, anche dopo il via dell'inchiesta e lo stop della FSA, SMS ha continuato a percepire "contributi" dagli utenti, che ancora oggi non sanno quanto riceveranno "indietro" dopo l'uscita del gioco...

Il team Simbin lancia il GT Predators Week per il suo RaceRoom Racing Experience: in pratica dal 22 al 27 aprile sarà possibile provare gratuitamente, per valutarne l'acquisto, le tre nuove vetture GT in arrivo per il simulatore, ovvero la Ford GT, la P4/5 Competizione e la BMW M3 GT2.
