La Atari ha annunciato oggi che il prossimo Test Drive Unlimited in versione pc avrà implementato anche il nuovo Hardcore Mode: per attivarlo sarà necessario diventare Campioni ed avremo a disposizione, fra le altre cose, una fisica ultra realistica. Queste le caratteristiche complete:

The GP4U and GT4U packages are based on a new revolutionary car-design concept. Much more than another mod for rF, these packages will introduce a totally new way to deal with car models, upgrades, physics, settings and damage model.

The Squale racing cars are brand new ENTIRELY CUSTOMISABLE racing cars. That means you're given a car, and a stock of carparts including engines, gearboxes, wings, flaps, sidepods, diffusers, rims, airboxes...etc, and you can build-up your own car or chose the parts that will best fit the track you want to race on.
To make things easier if you don't feel comfortable with creating your own car, each car type ships with several upgrade packages that are designed to fit various racing series levels.
ALL PART CHANGES will affect the physics and thus, car behaviour, depending on which spareparts you install.
Allowing to change almost everything on the car is linked to a yet unseen damage model; actually, cars models are built like real-life ones: you have a carbon monocoque or chassis on which parts are fitted, and all these parts will break away during a crash, resulting in the most realistic damage model so far.
Maybe the most interesting part, is that we'll setup online racing series based on the above-mentioned upgrade packages, and the best drivers will be awarded prizes, including computers, computer parts or gaming devices, from our commercial partners, or also money.
Virtual and online racing is on its way to take a new dimension, but 'amateur-time' is over: our physics models are tested and validated by some of the best known racing drivers in the world.

Continuano ad arrivare nuove immagini di TrackMania United, già raccolte insieme a qualcuna più anzianotta in questa sezione screenshot, mentre la data di arrivo nei negozi sembrerebbe ormai fissata per fine marzo, quantomeno in Inghiltrerra. Come qualcuno ricorderà il gioco è infatti già stato pubblicato a metà novembre in USA causando reazioni miste di giubilo - per le indiscutibili qualità della serie - e disappunto.

Quest'ultimo è derivato in gran parte dalla presenza della famigerata protezione StarForce, tecnologia che teoricamente potrebbe ancora essere eliminata dalla versione europea; purtroppo la sua presenza in tutti i precedenti episodi non induce a sperarci più di tanto. TrackMania United non si limita a riassumere le precedenti incarnazioni della serie, con relative ambientazioni e veicoli, ma apporta notevoli migliorie sul versante grafico nonché del supporto al gioco online.
