Gli appassionati più attenti degli Slightly Mad Studios sanno che Renè Rast, pilota reale tedesco impegnato in varie categorie dell'automobilismo, non solo aiuta il team dei programmatori nello sviluppo dei giochi, ma li utilizza spesso per allenarsi. Nel video qui sotto, Rast ci mostra che ha iniziato finalmente a girare anche con il nuovo Project CARS 2: è impegnato con la Corvette GT3 sul circuito del Fuji.

Come ormai sappiamo, il pilota tedesco Renè Rast è un grande appassionato dei titoli targati Slightly Mad Studios, tanto è vero che sta già testando il nuovo Project CARS 2. In questa intervista Rast ci racconta come si sta allenando al simulatore in vista della prossima stagione DTM ed in quale misura questo tipo di training lo aiuta e stimola per la guida reale. Commenti sul forum. How close to reality are the computer simulations? It depends. If you are driving in a game with a DTM car with standard setup, the difference to reality is rather big. But when you know how driving a DTM car feels in reality you can take the virtual pendant of the setup very close to reality. Then, the lap times differ by just a few tenths of a second. Nonetheless, the simulator can’t replace driving a real racing car, for me. But at the same time, the DTM cars require a special style of driving that also can be trained in the simulator. If you know the original that is. An ordinary person can’t get behind the wheel of a DTM car and be fast right away. You need experience. What are you missing most in the simulations? The feeling in your bum. A real racing car is moving all the time and you feel it in everywhere in your body. Oversteer, for instance, is noticed really fast in reality. In the simulator this isn’t the case. The only thing you’ve got is the ‘Force Feedback’ via the steering wheel that is far more sensitive.

Nel video qui sotto possiamo ammirare il pilota tedesco Renè Rast che si allena al simulatore con Project CARS, sul circuito del Hockenheimring, in preparazione del prossimo campionato DTM 2017. Lo stesso Rast fa notare che il tempo fatto segnare in virtuale, sul minuto e 34 secondi, è molto vicino a quello reale della pista.

Molto affascinante è il nuovo video di confronto dedicato a Project CARS che potete ammirare anche qui sotto: Renè Rast, pilota Audi, ha infatti pubblicato il paragone diretto fra un suo giro reale a bordo della Audi R8 LMS sulla pista di Oschersleben ed un suo identico giro al simulatore degli SMS.
