La Fanatec lancia con un nuovo video, presentato dall'ormai famosa "SimRacingGirl", le sue nuove basi direct drive denominate Podium, che già tanta attesa hanno generato fra gli appassionati, come potete verificare da questo affollatissimo topic sul forum. Vi ricordiamo che le nuove basi Podium sono già ordinabili tramite il sito ufficiale Fanatec, con prezzi che vanno dai 1,499.95€ della versione DD2, ai 999.95€ della DD1, fino ai 1,499.95€ del modello per Playstation 4 (nella foto qui sopra).

Dopo un lungo silenzio, arriva finalmente un nuovo development update riguardo il nuovo volante e pedaliera targati Feel VR. Gli sviluppatori ci mostrano quella che dovrebbe essere la confezione della pedaliera, la quale sembra ormai essere giunta ad una fase completa di sviluppo, senza rilevare ulteriori problematiche, anche se gli sviluppatori sono al lavoro per implementare una nuova caratteristica per permettere "una pressione del freno maggiormente realistica". La situazione per quanto riguarda il volante sembra essere invece più complessa, con vari problemi rilevati anche negli ultimi tempi e vari componenti cambiati o modificati in fase di sviluppo.

Gli sviluppatori del progetto Feel VR ci aggiornano finalmente tramite Indiegogo sul lavoro in corso riguardo i vari prodotti simracing, previsti in uscita per Febbraio 2019, che includono un volante direct drive con 2 diverse corone ed una pedaliera professionale. After reading some comments on the live stream we thought it was a good idea to make this video in order to explain some points in more depth. This video summarises the unique benefits of the Podium DD Wheel Bases, announces pricing and explains the auction system. I will even show a new steering wheel which is in development. We also decided to publish these torque graphs so you can see how our outrunner servo motors behave over time. Even the most expensive DD motors de-rate when they heat up as it is a physical law that heat increases resistance and therefore reduces power. But please consider that it is not typical in simracing that the motor is operated in full stall for 5 minutes or more. In our realistic life test scenarios we reach only 60°C motor temperature if operated with 100% force feedback. But not everybody really wants to drive at 100% Our intention was to create a system where everybody has a fair chance to make a good deal and to eliminate luck. We also want to avoid any technical problems and therefore the auctions are hosted on the Amazon webservers with much better performance of our current server. Side note: We are working on a complete new website and change our server host with it sometime later this year. Our target is to start with the auctions on the 30th of July but only if it was tested carefully and runs stable. The exact timing and all parameters will be revealed later. This is how it works: The DD1 will be on pre-order before the first auction starts and will be available for regular pre-order the whole time. So you have the choice to place a regular pre-order or to take part in the auction system. Every registered customer can place as many bids as he like per auction but is allowed to win only one auction. We want to avoid resellers. The auction starts at 1 USD / Euro and every bid changes the auctionprice for a certain increment (e.g. +5,00) With every bid a countdown is reset. If nobody bids within the countdown, the auction is closed After an auction is closed the next product will be put on auction automatically. We will put as many products on auction until a certain amount (will be announced) of auctions reach a certain price of XXX (will be announced) which is below the regular pre-order price. This will guarantee that a lot of customers will get the DD1 well below the pre-order price and it can go down as far as a couple of Dollars if there is no more demand. Naturally demand will go down the more we put on auction. Auctions will be held in Europe, USA, Australia and Japan but not at the same time. Exact timing and dates will be announced here and on the auction page. We currently plan only one event but if it is succesful then we might make more events in the pre-order phase.

I ragazzi di Sim Racing Paddock hanno potuto provare con mano il nuovo volante direct drive con pedaliera targati Feel VR e ci raccontano nel video test qui sotto le loro impressioni. A giudizio del tester, il feeling "direct drive" risulta ottimo, cosi come la resa della pedaliera con cella di carico da 50Kg, si evidenziano però problemi di gioventù e tipici di un prototipo, ovvero un eccessivo surriscaldamento e la mancanza di un driver specifico, oltre a diversi particolari da rifinire. L'opinione complessiva è però positiva ed il volante viene giudicato ben al di sopra di un Thrustmaster ed in grado anche di vincere la sfida con un Fanatec CSW 2.5. L'impressione generale è quella di un buon prodotto, anche se a quanto pare indietro con i tempi a livello di sviluppo ed ottimizzazione. Attendiamo le prossime settimane per saperne di più...

La Feel VR ha suscitato un immediato interesse quando nel dicembre scorso ha annunciato il suo nuovo volante direct drive con pedaliera annessa ad un prezzo di lancio incredibile, ovviamente le domande (e perplessità) degli appassionati sono state molte e varie. Proprio oggi, con il comunicato che riportiamo qui di seguito, la Feel VR ci aggiorna sugli ultimi sviluppi dei suoi prodotti: in attesa del lancio su Kickstarter, prosegue il lavoro di rifinitura e testing, con alcune migliorie apportate e nuove features, che hanno però indotto l'azienda ucraina ad aumentare i costi, pur di mantenere alto il livello qualitativo. I nuovi prezzi quindi, riportati tutti di seguito, sono leggermente superiori a quelli annunciati in dicembre, ma restano comunque molto bassi per prodotti di questo livello. In pratica al lancio, per i soli pre ordini, sarà possibile portarsi a casa un volante direct drive con una pedaliera professionale al prezzo complessivo di 549 dollari, che diventerà poi 899. Dal Simracing Expo di settembre non se ne parlava più, ma finalmente oggi la Fanatec sembra essere tornata allo scoperto: da quanto scritto pochi minuti fa sulla propria pagina Facebook, sembra proprio che l'atteso nuovo volante direct drive della inedita linea Podium Series della casa tedesca sarà lanciato in pre ordine scontato in occasione del prossimo Black Friday del 24 novembre. Il volante sarà disponibile nel 2018. Our next addition to our already broad range of steering wheels. ??? Guess what it is. ??? Una delle novità più interessanti mostrate alla fiera del Simracing Expo, conclusasi ieri al Nurburgring, è stato certamente il nuovo volante direct drive della Fanatec. Il volante, come già sappiamo, farà parte della nuova linea di prodotti Podium Series dell'azienda tedesca, prodotti che saranno ad un livello superiore rispetto all'attuale linea ClubSport, che però continuerà ad essere realizzata, anche perchè tutti i prodotti ClubSport ed anche CSL Elite saranno comunque compatibili con la nuova Podium Series (in pratica si potrà montare un volante ClubSport anche sul direct drive). Dalle varie interviste (qui sotto quella di Simracing Girl), foto e commenti sui social network, possiamo sintetizzare le prime informazioni sul volante: le basi direct drive saranno due, che avranno una diversa potenza (ovviamente la meno potente avrà comunque una coppia molto superiore alla ClubSport), saranno plug & play, non ci saranno cavi o fili esterni in quanto sarà tutto inglobato nella scocca, saranno testati e certificati in modo da non avere problemi di interferenze elettromagnetiche (problema tipico dei motori direct drive), infine, particolare forse più importante di tutti, la Fanatec ha sviluppato un proprio servomotore specifico per questa base, sul quale hanno lavorato per ottenere una velocità, feedback, coppia, forza, oltre che dimensione e consumo energetico adatti allo scopo. Nulla si sa al momento a livello di prezzo (ovviamente superiore al ClubSport) e software di gestione, ma fa ben sperare il fatto che il motore sia stato sviluppato internamente, in ogni caso Fanatec ha già previsto una fase di beta testing prima interno e poi anche esterno, riservato ad appassionati che saranno selezionati online con metodo già utilizzato per altri prodotti. Il volante dovrebbe essere disponibile entro fine anno, con l'obiettivo di Fanatec di lanciarlo ufficialmente in ottobre. Non sappiamo neppure se la veste "estetica" vista in fiera sarà quella definitiva, senza dubbio originale! I fattori che potrebbero quindi rendere molto interessante il nuovo Podium Series direct drive wheel sono il prezzo, che sarà più alto del ClubSport ma che Thomas di Fanatec ha definito "competitivo" rispetto ad altri prodotti simili, il servomotore sviluppato appositamente e specificatamente per questo scopo, il software di gestione che sarà certamente collaudato e comunque migliorato nel tempo con successivi rilasci come da tradizione Fanatec, la semplicità e sicurezza nell'utilizzo grazie al collaudo apposito ed alla rilevazione plug & play. Proprio in merito a quest'ultimo particolare infatti, è bene ricordare che numerosi appassionati, con pazienza e competenza, amano realizzarsi il proprio volante direct drive fatto in casa, seguendo le indicazioni e consigli di questo prezioso topic sul forum, spesso realizzando motori per volanti incredibili, ma incorrendo in altre occasioni in problemi tecnici, difetti ed interferenze pesanti su tutto l'hardware. Infine è da non sottovalutare il fatto che tutti i simulatori in commercio (la Kunos con Assetto Corsa ha già per esempio una partnership con Fanatec mirata all'ottimizzazione delle sue periferiche in game) potranno lavorare su un prodotto pensato e realizzato apposta per il simracing, creando perciò profili specifici ed ottimizzati per sfruttare al meglio la periferica. Iniziamo quindi a pensare ad una postazione abbastanza solida e ferma, oppure a rinforzare quella che già abbiamo!

Se state pensando di acquistare (fra i vari modelli disponibili) o di realizzarvi da soli (allora correte in questo topic) un bel volante direct drive, troverete sicuramente molto interessanti questi due video che ci raccontano dell'utilizzo di un volante direct drive con Assetto Corsa e con rFactor 2. Quali sono le differenze? Scopriamolo...

Che Fanatec stesse sviluppando un sistema di sterzo direct drive era ormai un segreto di Pulcinella: diverse indiscrezioni erano comparse nei mesi scorsi su diversi forum, l'ultima delle quale proprio pochi giorni fa in occasione del lancio della nuova base CSL Elite per Playstation 4. Al fine di mettere a tacere i rumors e dare informazioni precise sullo stato dei lavori, il CEO di Fanatec Thomas Jackermeier ha pubblicato un messaggio ufficiale su sito della casa tedesca. Il comunicato contene diverse informazioni interessanti: Fanatec ha costruito un motore direct drive da zero, così da adattarsi al meglio all'uso per cui è previsto, senza dover scendere ai compromessi di motori pensati per altri utilizzi; l'idea è di rilasciare motori di diversa potenza, così da soddisfare tutte le esigenze del pubblico l'obiettivo principale è il mercato PC, ma quasi sicura è la compatibilità XBox One (mancherà quella PS4, per la prima generazione di volanti) verrà introdotto un nuovo sistema di quick release: in presenza di un rim con il vecchio sistema, la potenza della base sarà limitata verrà posta particolare attenzione ad eliminare qualsiasi tipo di disturbo elettromagnetico, attualmente tallone d'achille di molte soluzioni fai-da-te Fanatec conta di presentare questa attesa linea di prodotti al SimRacingExpo di Settembre, salvo poi arrivare al rilascio entro la fine dell'anno. Al momento non abbiamo ancora alcun annuncio ufficiale su un possibile nuovo volante con tecnologia Direct Drive da parte di Fanatec, ma diciamo che abbiamo trovato la "pistola fumante": per rispondere ad un utente di iRacing che lamentava grossi problemi con il suo volante Fanatec CSR, il CEO della casa tedesca Thomas Jackermeier ha risposto We don't ship spareparts if the Installation is complicated and will lead to more defectives. But we could have given you free service. You know, we actually even considered to use you for our beta testing program and send you a free direct drive wheel. It seems that you drive a lot and already have compatible steering wheels. And hey, if this would make you happy than this would be a win-win situation. Unfortunately you started to become impertinent and also threatened our staff. This is where we put you off the list. We are not willing to help people which are treating us nasty and arrogant. People who are nice or at least objective to us get the best service. This is how we do business and you can see a lot of happy customers confirm that this is a good way. If you read this thread carefully then you will notice that the vast majority is against you and your actions and undisputed lies. Thomas offre la possibilità all'utente di fare da beta tester inviandogli la base di un volante direct drive, compatibile con i volanti che lui ha già. L'idea di produrre una base direct drive compatibile con i volanti già in commercio sarebbe ovviamente vincente ed il prodotto risolverebbe presumibilmente anche le accuse di scarsa affidabilità rivolte a volte ai prodotti Fanatec. Vediamo cosa succederà...
