La Fanatec lancia con un nuovo video, presentato dall'ormai famosa "SimRacingGirl", le sue nuove basi direct drive denominate Podium, che già tanta attesa hanno generato fra gli appassionati, come potete verificare da questo affollatissimo topic sul forum. E' stato rilasciato il nuovo Fanaleds v2.5G, il software di supporto che permette di utilizzare e configurare al meglio i vari display e periferiche. Dopo la delusione con l'annuncio del ritardo a fine aprile della versione per PC del Podium Racing Wheel direct drive, a causa di gravi problemi elettrici, la tedesca Fanatec lancia il preordine dello stesso prodotto ma in versione per Playstation 4, che sarà disponibile (in teoria), sempre per la fine di aprile. Con un messaggio pubblicato sul blog ufficiale, come ormai era nell'aria da un pò di tempo, la Fanatec ha annunciato il ritardo nella disponibilità della sua nuova ed attesissima base direct drive denominata Podium Series. Il Fanatec Podium Wheel Base non sarà disponibile prima di Aprile 2019, visto che sono stati riscontrati problemi di elettronica. Per farsi perdonare dal lungo ritardo, la Fanatec regalerà a tutti i clienti che non cancelleranno il proprio ordine il nuovo volante ClubSport F1 2019 che dovrebbe essere rilasciato a maggio del prossimo anno (quello 2018 è già disponibile). Qui di seguito l'estratto della comunicazione in italiano: Vi ricordiamo che la linea Direct Drive denominata Podium ha due basi diverse: quella più "economica" in metallo sviluppa dai 15 Nm fino ad un picco massimo di 18 Nm di coppia (senza cut off che stacca la potenza in caso di pericolo), è dotata di un piccolo schermo con un menu che permette di controllare temperature, potenza erogata e clipping, con il volante che comunicherà con la base tramite una connessione wireless e sarà dotato di un nuovo quick release. After reading some comments on the live stream we thought it was a good idea to make this video in order to explain some points in more depth. This video summarises the unique benefits of the Podium DD Wheel Bases, announces pricing and explains the auction system. I will even show a new steering wheel which is in development. We also decided to publish these torque graphs so you can see how our outrunner servo motors behave over time. Even the most expensive DD motors de-rate when they heat up as it is a physical law that heat increases resistance and therefore reduces power. But please consider that it is not typical in simracing that the motor is operated in full stall for 5 minutes or more. In our realistic life test scenarios we reach only 60°C motor temperature if operated with 100% force feedback. But not everybody really wants to drive at 100% Our intention was to create a system where everybody has a fair chance to make a good deal and to eliminate luck. We also want to avoid any technical problems and therefore the auctions are hosted on the Amazon webservers with much better performance of our current server. Side note: We are working on a complete new website and change our server host with it sometime later this year. Our target is to start with the auctions on the 30th of July but only if it was tested carefully and runs stable. The exact timing and all parameters will be revealed later. Dopo un silenzio che durava da diverse settimane, la tedesca Fanatec torna finalmente ad aggiornarci sullo sviluppo dei suoi due nuovi ed attesissimi prodotti: la base Podium Direct Drive ed il volante McLaren GT3 (nella foto qui sopra). Riguardo la base "Podium", che come sappiamo sarà dotata di tecnologia direct drive, sono in corso di sistemazione alcuni piccoli problemini, ma il beta testing inizierà a fine febbraio come programmato e la Fanatec stima di rendere il prodotto disponibile in estate prossima. Podium Wheel Base Talking about delays... We are all waiting for this product to be released but we had to fight a lot of small issues. The pre-production is done and we are still making internal tests to verify the design and sort out some obvious issues. Currently we select the beta testers and will get in contact with them shortly. The beta tests will start in late february and it is still planned to held a community event in our HQ where we will invite interested potential customers and direct drive specialists to help us fine tuning the wheel base. At the moment we are aiming to start selling the DD wheel bases in summer. Some good news as well. We managed to crank up the torque on both versions. We also successfully eliminated all torque ripple so you can expect the same smoothness as on your ClubSport Wheel bases which is on par with the very best DDs out there or even better. Qualsiasi appassionato di guida virtuale, già dopo i primi giri di pista, nel caso stia utilizzando un qualunque controller o peggio ancora la tastiera, si renderà conto che l'acquisto di un volante e relativa pedaliera sono di fatto una scelta obbligata, per poter apprezzare in pieno l'emozione della guida, ma anche per capire, grazie al force feedback del volante stesso, il comportamento del veicolo, correggendo quindi il proprio stile e riuscendo a modificare l'assetto dell'auto con cognizione di causa. Di certo non tutti si possono permettere di spendere cifre considerevoli scegliendo in partenza solo il top, se non altro perchè all'inizio è anche utile capire, con un piccolo investimento, quanto davvero è forte la nostra passione per la guida simulata. Inoltre oggi il panorama delle periferiche di guida è molto ampio, per tutte le tasche e sempre qualitativamente assai valido. Vediamo quindi quali potrebbero essere le scelte più interessanti disponibili ad oggi, tenendo d'occhio da un lato il portafoglio e dall'altro la qualità, scartando quindi a priori quei prodotti che di fatto sarebbero inutili e non porterebbero nessun giovamento nella guida. Per cominciare: Thrustmaster T150 Force Feedback - Euro 150,00 circa Il T150 di Thrustmaster, disponibile anche in versione Ferrari per i fans del Cavallino, può essere tranquillamente considerato come il miglior acquisto possibile per chi vuole iniziare a guidare con un buon volante fra le mani, ma senza spendere in modo eccessivo. Lo sterzo ha un diametro di 28 centimetri con impugnatura rivestita in gomma, dietro al quale troviamo 2 leve del cambio sequenziale, alte 13 centimetri e costruite totalmente in metallo. I pulsanti disponibili e configurabili sono 13 (compresi 2 sulla base), a sinistra troviamo invece la croce direzionale. Anche grazie all'esperienza pluriennale della casa nel settore ed ai continui aggiornamenti di driver e firmware (proprio due giorni fa l'ultima release 6), il motore del force feedback risponde molto bene, con la rilevazione del movimento molto precisa, grazie ad un sensore ottico a 12 bit che permette di rilevare 4.096 valori lungo l'asse dello sterzo. L'angolo di sterzata va da 240° a 1080°, con Il sistema ibrido con puleggia e ingranaggi che garantisce una guida silenziosa e fluida, mentre asse e cuscinetti a sfera in metallo ci garantiscono robustezza e durata nel tempo. La confezione include anche la pedaliera con freno e acceleratore, senza frizione: interamente di plastica, va utilizzata senza eccessi, perchè alla lunga potrebbe soffrire tecnicamente, ma considerando il prezzo dell'insieme, per cominciare è sicuramente validissima. Per cominciare: Thrustmaster TMX Force Feedback - Euro 155,00 circa Il modello TMX differisce dal T150 per l'angolo di rotazione dello sterzo, che si ferma a 900° e per il fatto che funziona anche con XBox, oltre che con il PC. Del TMX è disponibile anche una versione Pro con pedaliera a 3 pedali, decisamente migliore di quella citata sopra, ma il prezzo arriva a toccare i 250 euro. Partiamo bene: Logitech G29 e G920 - Euro 270,00 circa La Logitech è stata praticamente la prima azienda, molti anni fa, a credere nel mercato dei volanti, producendo modelli come il mitico Momo Force o il G25 che hanno praticamente fatto la storia di questo settore di periferiche e che potete ancora acquistare usati, facendo ottimi affari, nel nostro mercatino. L'attuale modello G29 è l'erede dell'ancora apprezzatissimo G27. Lo sterzo del G29 ha un diametro di 26 centimetri con angolo di rotazione pari a 900°, costruito in alluminio anodizzato con rivestimento in pelle cucito a mano e leve per il cambio sequenziale dietro il volante in acciaio inossidabile. La meccanica del volante è basata sugli ingranaggi elicoidali, che assicurano durata nel tempo e prestazioni costanti. Il force feedback è garantito da due motori, con pulsanti presenti sullo sterzo totalmente configurabili attraverso l'utility Logitech Gaming Software. Suggestivo è invece l'indicatore RPM a LED presente sulla parte superiore. La pedaliera inclusa ha tre pedali, praticamente la stessa del G27 ed ancora oggi eccellente, tutti in acciaio laminato a freddo, con quello del freno non lineare. Un gran peccato invece il fatto che Logitech abbia deciso di vendere a parte il cambio ad H, che costa circa 40,00€, che invece era già incluso nei precedenti modelli. Partiamo bene: Thrustmaster T300 - Euro 280,00 circa La scelta di un volante è ovviamente anche una questione di gusti personali, con valutazioni spesso estetiche che influenzano non poco l'acquisto. Praticamente allo stesso prezzo del G29, troviamo il T300 di Thrustmaster, con meccanismo a doppia cinghia, più silenzioso e reattivo del Logitech, ma che necessita di un minimo di manutenzione, a causa dell'attrito delle cinghie. Voglio il meglio: Fanatec CSL Elite - Euro 650,00 circa Il CSL Elite completo della tedesca Fanatec, come potete verificare dalla nostra video recensione qui sotto, è per certi versi migliore e più conveniente del già noto ClubSport Base v2.5. La base è interamente in metallo con rifiniture in plastica, il volante ha un diametro di 30 cm con razze in metallo e rivestito in pelle cucita a mano. L'angolo di rotazione massimo è di 1080°, con le classiche leve del cambio sequenziale realizzate in acciaio inossidabile. La pedaliera inclusa presenta acceleratore, freno e frizione. La corsa del freno è progressiva simulando quella di un pedale reale, mentre quella dell'acceleratore risulta molto lunga. Anche Fanatec aggiorna periodicamente i driver ed il firmware dei suoi prodotti, quindi le prestazioni del feedback possono variare col tempo e dipendono molto anche dal simulatore utilizzato. Le performance sono in ogni caso sempre di altissimo livello. Voglio il meglio: Thrustmaster TS-XW Sparco P310 - Euro 690,00 circa Una validissima alternativa al kit Fanatec, che risulterà essere imperdibile per gli appassionati del motorsport reale e quindi del ben noto marchio Sparco, è rappresentata dal nuovo Thrustmaster TS-XW: si tratta di una replica in scala 1:1 del famoso volante Sparco P310 Competizione ed è dotato di servomotore brushless per il force feedback da 40 watt con sistema di raffreddamento integrato, capace di garantire prestazioni costanti anche durante sessioni prolungate. La pedaliera, interamente in acciaio, è dotata di acceleratore, freno e frizione. Il grande vantaggio del prodotto Thrustmaster risiede proprio nella licenza Sparco, che garantisce repliche di volanti reali, che arriveranno nel tempo: oltre al P310, è infatti già disponibile lo spettacolare Rally Wheel Add-On Sparco® R383 Mod, che i fans della derapata non vorranno certamente lasciarsi sfuggire. Facciamo una follia: SimSteering V2 by Leo Bodnar - A partire da Euro 3200,00 Come avrete capito dal prezzo, definirlo semplicemente un "volante" non solo è riduttivo, ma non rende l'idea della qualità e resa di questo prodotto. Per capire davvero di cosa stiamo parlando ed anche del perchè di un prezzo cosi pazzesco, vi invitiamo a leggere la dettagliata recensione a suo tempo realizzata dall'esperto Filodream. Eccovene un estratto: Per la verità è doveroso ricordare che sono anche altri i volanti con motori direct drive disponibili in commercio, più o meno tutti nella fascia di prezzo dei 1200 euro, come per esempio il Frex Simwheel, il SimXperience Accuforce V2, il EC Sim Hardware Pro, oltre alla prossima novità del volante direct drive della Podium Series di Fanatec, che dovrebbe arrivare entro fine anno, ma del quale al momento non si conoscono nè dettagli nè prezzo. Ovvio che fra questi direct drive "normali" ed il SimSteering ci sono notevoli differenze ed anche per questo motivo bisogna valutare con attenzione se davvero vale la pena arrivare ad una spesa superiore al migliaio di euro, quando un Thrustmaster TS-XW o un Fanatec CSL possono già rappresentare una valida eccellenza. Volendo e potendo permettersi di spendere oltre mille euro per un direct drive, senza arrivare ai 3000 di un Bodnar, vi consigliamo però spassionatamente di attendere proprio il nuovo Fanatec Podium che, con l'esperienza della casa tedesca e dei motori realizzati apposta per il simracing, potrebbe rivelarsi la scelta migliore possibile fra i direct drive in vendita. Da non dimenticare poi la possibilità, per coloro più appassionati e con un minimo di competenza tecnica, di realizzarsi il proprio direct drive "fatto in casa", seguendo la guida ed i consigli presenti in questo frequentatissimo topic dedicato. Nella vostra scelta di acquisto, oltre ai gusti personali, ricordate sempre che il mercato dei volanti e pedaliere è in continuo aggiornamento, con novità spesso mensili, il consiglio è quindi quello di tenere sempre d'occhio il nostro forum dedicato ai volanti, oltre al nostro mercatino dell'usato, nel quale si trovano sempre incredibili affari, garantiti dalla serietà dei nostri stessi utenti appassionati. Una delle novità più interessanti mostrate alla fiera del Simracing Expo, conclusasi ieri al Nurburgring, è stato certamente il nuovo volante direct drive della Fanatec. Il volante, come già sappiamo, farà parte della nuova linea di prodotti Podium Series dell'azienda tedesca, prodotti che saranno ad un livello superiore rispetto all'attuale linea ClubSport, che però continuerà ad essere realizzata, anche perchè tutti i prodotti ClubSport ed anche CSL Elite saranno comunque compatibili con la nuova Podium Series (in pratica si potrà montare un volante ClubSport anche sul direct drive). Dalle varie interviste (qui sotto quella di Simracing Girl), foto e commenti sui social network, possiamo sintetizzare le prime informazioni sul volante: le basi direct drive saranno due, che avranno una diversa potenza (ovviamente la meno potente avrà comunque una coppia molto superiore alla ClubSport), saranno plug & play, non ci saranno cavi o fili esterni in quanto sarà tutto inglobato nella scocca, saranno testati e certificati in modo da non avere problemi di interferenze elettromagnetiche (problema tipico dei motori direct drive), infine, particolare forse più importante di tutti, la Fanatec ha sviluppato un proprio servomotore specifico per questa base, sul quale hanno lavorato per ottenere una velocità, feedback, coppia, forza, oltre che dimensione e consumo energetico adatti allo scopo. Nulla si sa al momento a livello di prezzo (ovviamente superiore al ClubSport) e software di gestione, ma fa ben sperare il fatto che il motore sia stato sviluppato internamente, in ogni caso Fanatec ha già previsto una fase di beta testing prima interno e poi anche esterno, riservato ad appassionati che saranno selezionati online con metodo già utilizzato per altri prodotti. Il volante dovrebbe essere disponibile entro fine anno, con l'obiettivo di Fanatec di lanciarlo ufficialmente in ottobre. Non sappiamo neppure se la veste "estetica" vista in fiera sarà quella definitiva, senza dubbio originale! I fattori che potrebbero quindi rendere molto interessante il nuovo Podium Series direct drive wheel sono il prezzo, che sarà più alto del ClubSport ma che Thomas di Fanatec ha definito "competitivo" rispetto ad altri prodotti simili, il servomotore sviluppato appositamente e specificatamente per questo scopo, il software di gestione che sarà certamente collaudato e comunque migliorato nel tempo con successivi rilasci come da tradizione Fanatec, la semplicità e sicurezza nell'utilizzo grazie al collaudo apposito ed alla rilevazione plug & play. Proprio in merito a quest'ultimo particolare infatti, è bene ricordare che numerosi appassionati, con pazienza e competenza, amano realizzarsi il proprio volante direct drive fatto in casa, seguendo le indicazioni e consigli di questo prezioso topic sul forum, spesso realizzando motori per volanti incredibili, ma incorrendo in altre occasioni in problemi tecnici, difetti ed interferenze pesanti su tutto l'hardware. Infine è da non sottovalutare il fatto che tutti i simulatori in commercio (la Kunos con Assetto Corsa ha già per esempio una partnership con Fanatec mirata all'ottimizzazione delle sue periferiche in game) potranno lavorare su un prodotto pensato e realizzato apposta per il simracing, creando perciò profili specifici ed ottimizzati per sfruttare al meglio la periferica. Iniziamo quindi a pensare ad una postazione abbastanza solida e ferma, oppure a rinforzare quella che già abbiamo!
