Thomas Jackermeier, storico fondatore e CEO di Fanatec, è stato di fatto obbligato a lasciare il suo incarico ai vertici della casa tedesca produttrice di hardware simracing. La Endor AG, quotata alle borse di Monaco, Amburgo e Stoccarda, che detiene il marchio Fanatec, ha rilasciato un breve comunicato in cui annuncia il cambiamento. "Oggi il consiglio di amministrazione di Endor AG ha deciso il licenziamento del CEO Thomas Jackermeier, con effetto dal 30 marzo 2024, soddisfacendo così una condizione chiave posta dalle banche finanziatrici per la proroga dell'accordo fino al 30 giugno 2024". In sostanza il licenziamento di Jackermeier è direttamente collegato ad un accordo di sospensione del prestito: il piano di rimborso dei prestiti esistenti viene sospeso a condizione che Thomas venga messo alla porta! Questo, detto in parole semplici, è quello che presumibilmente le banche hanno richiesto ad Endor. La società ha poi spiegato che è "in trattative con le banche finanziatrici in merito a un accordo fino al 30 giugno 2024" e che "l'accordo è soggetto a condizioni". Il brand Fanatec è arrivato in borsa per la prima volta il 27 giugno 2006 e, secondo Endor AG, Jackermeier possiede ancora "circa il 50%" delle azioni della società. Gli appassionati di simracing più anziani ricorderanno che è stato proprio Thomas, partendo dalla sua personale passione, a fondare l'azienda nel 1997, con il suo primo volante lanciato sul mercato nel 1998. Negli ultimi tempi la Fanatec ha subito ritardi nella distribuzione dei prodotti, con tempi di spedizione molto lenti, in particolare in relazione alle offerte del Black Friday e ai nuovi modelli direct drive DD+. Non sono mancate inoltre lamentele degli utenti sul servizio di assistenza e sulla qualità dei prodotti. Già all’inizio di quest’anno la Fanatec ha pubblicato una revisione delle previsioni sugli utili con ricavi e margine in netto calo per l’anno finanziario 2023. La cosa è stata giustificata dall'azienda adducendo problemi di “interruzioni della catena di fornitura”. Sempre a detta di Fanatec però, le prospettive per il 2024 sono positive, prevedendo un aumento dei ricavi e degli utili già a febbraio. Thomas Jackermeier, in quanto CEO, ha quindi pagato i vari problemi e gli scarsi risultati della "sua" Fanatec degli ultimi tempi? Le banche che, a quanto pare in modo non certo minimale, sostengono l'azienda, hanno ritenuto proprio Thomas responsabile di tutto ciò che non andava più per il verso giusto? Il fatto che un amministratore delegato e fondatore di un'azienda paghi praticamente per tutti, non è cosa nuova in ambito finanziario, come ricorderanno quelli che hanno vissuto la cacciata di Steve Jobs dalla Apple. Vero è però che Thomas Jackermeier, con il suo indiscusso carisma e la sua autentica passione per il simracing, non solo ha fondato un'azienda ormai leader del settore, ma ha certamente contribuito alla crescita dell'intero comparto della guida simulata. La sua messa alla porta non può che dispiacere ad ogni appassionato, anche a chi con un volante pensato da Thomas non ha mai guidato.

After reading some comments on the live stream we thought it was a good idea to make this video in order to explain some points in more depth. This video summarises the unique benefits of the Podium DD Wheel Bases, announces pricing and explains the auction system. I will even show a new steering wheel which is in development. We also decided to publish these torque graphs so you can see how our outrunner servo motors behave over time. Even the most expensive DD motors de-rate when they heat up as it is a physical law that heat increases resistance and therefore reduces power. But please consider that it is not typical in simracing that the motor is operated in full stall for 5 minutes or more. In our realistic life test scenarios we reach only 60°C motor temperature if operated with 100% force feedback. But not everybody really wants to drive at 100% Our intention was to create a system where everybody has a fair chance to make a good deal and to eliminate luck. We also want to avoid any technical problems and therefore the auctions are hosted on the Amazon webservers with much better performance of our current server. Side note: We are working on a complete new website and change our server host with it sometime later this year. Our target is to start with the auctions on the 30th of July but only if it was tested carefully and runs stable. The exact timing and all parameters will be revealed later. This is how it works: The DD1 will be on pre-order before the first auction starts and will be available for regular pre-order the whole time. So you have the choice to place a regular pre-order or to take part in the auction system. Every registered customer can place as many bids as he like per auction but is allowed to win only one auction. We want to avoid resellers. The auction starts at 1 USD / Euro and every bid changes the auctionprice for a certain increment (e.g. +5,00) With every bid a countdown is reset. If nobody bids within the countdown, the auction is closed After an auction is closed the next product will be put on auction automatically. We will put as many products on auction until a certain amount (will be announced) of auctions reach a certain price of XXX (will be announced) which is below the regular pre-order price. This will guarantee that a lot of customers will get the DD1 well below the pre-order price and it can go down as far as a couple of Dollars if there is no more demand. Naturally demand will go down the more we put on auction. Auctions will be held in Europe, USA, Australia and Japan but not at the same time. Exact timing and dates will be announced here and on the auction page. We currently plan only one event but if it is succesful then we might make more events in the pre-order phase.
