E solo il divino Jim Clark, nel lontano 1963, a bordo della Lotus di Chapman, era stato capace di piazzarsi come Nando domenica scorsa, quinto in griglia alla Indy 500 del battesimo del fuoco.

Quando domani in Italia saranno le ore 18, partirà la mitica 500 miglia Indycar di Indianapolis, che quest'anno vede partire dalla quinta piazza in griglia anche uno straordinario Fernando Alonso. Il team Slightly Mad Studios ha appena annunciato per il suo prossimo Project CARS 2 la nuova licenza ufficiale del mitico circuito americano di Indianapolis. Oltre al catino dell'Indiana, arriveranno anche alcune vetture che ne hanno fatto la storia: Ol’ Calhoun, Lotus 38,Chapman-Granatelli STP Pratt & Whitney, Lotus 56. Fernando Alonso scende in pista oggi pomeriggio all'Indianapolis Motor Speedway per la sua prima sessione di test al volante di una IndyCar. Il pilota McLaren salterà il GP di Monaco di Formula 1 del 28 maggio proprio per correre la mitica 500 Miglia di Indianapolis. L'asturiano correrà con una delle vetture del team Andretti Autosport, sviluppata su telaio Dallara e con motore V6 biturbo Honda, fornitore della squadra statunitense dal 2003. La sessione di test in pista verrà trasmessa in diretta streaming a partire dalle ore 15.00 italiane (le 9.00 locali) e terminerà alle ore 23.00. Buona visione!

Fernando Alonso continua la sua marcia d'avvicinamento all'edizione 101 della 500 Miglia di Indianapolis. Dopo aver visitato la factory del team Andretti Autosport, con cui correrà la gara più famosa del campionato IndyCar, ha fatto il sedile di quella che sarà la sua monoposto, quindi ha iniziato a girare in pista, ma in maniera virtuale. Alonso ha preso contatto con il simulatore IndyCar della Honda, iniziando così a memorizzare comandi del volante e traiettorie. Subito dopo il Gran Premio di Russia, Fernando affronterà il primo test reale previsto per il 3 maggio, girerà per circa 8 ore, per essere pronto alle prime libere della 500 Miglia fissate per il 15 maggio. Being the cornerstone of each IndyCar Series season, the Indy 500 takes places on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Aside from offering an exciting place for action-packed multiplayer races and quick race events, the Indy 500 will also become a integral part of Project CARS’ career mode. To go along with the track, players will be given access to all cars and drivers of the 2015 IndyCar Series season, featuring the series’ Dallara-built DW12 open wheeler. Powered by 2.2l V6 turbo-charged engines from different manufacturers, the DW12 is used by all IndyCar teams in various configurations for both oval and road-racing. As Project CARS strives to provide the most authentic racing experience possible, all aspects of modern American open wheel racing will be accurately featured within the game, including asymmetrical setups, the IndyCar Series’ push to pass feature as well as proper oval racing rules. Project CARS will be coming to the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Steam OS, WiiU & PC, starting November 2014.
