The SideWinder series of peripherals for the PC used to be top of the line and only beatable by Logitech’s latest products. In the late 1990’s you could buy SideWinder joysticks, gamepads, racing wheels as well as a voice communicator. However, Microsoft has now decided to discontinue the SideWinder brand due to lack of demand. This is because, most PC games nowadays are either FPS, RPG or strategy games, which are all best controlled via a mouse and a keyboard. It was also obvious to observers that Microsoft’s interested in PC peripherals diminished, after the Xbox was announced and resources were directed into designing the console and accessories. Microsoft will still continue to develop keyboards and mice and the company are also pushing a new line of broadband products.
