rFactor 2: anche la Trans Am si lancia nel mondo simracing esport [gara 28 Marzo ore 21]

Il campionato americano Trans Am è l'ultimo in ordine di tempo a rivolgersi al simracing esport come soluzione alla mancanza di corse nel mondo reale. La serie proporrà il suo primo evento virtuale proprio questa sera, a partire dalle ore 21 italiane, al posto di quello che avrebbe dovuto essere il secondo round della serie 2020 a Road Atlanta. Saranno ben 31 i piloti in pista sulla versione virtuale di Lime Rock in rFactor 2, tutti a bordo della Chevrolet Camaro GT3 del 2012. For the first time since the season opener at Sebring International Raceway earlier this month, the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli will hit the track, but on a different field of play. On Saturday, March 28, current, former, and even future Trans Am Series drivers from all five Trans Am classes will come together on the virtual stage to compete in the inaugural Trans Am by Pirelli Showdown at Lime Rock Park.

A full lineup of drivers- including Trans Am regulars Ernie Francis Jr. and Scott Lagasse Jr., as well as up-and-coming Trans Am drivers like Adrian Wlostowski and Thomas Merrill- are slated to participate in the eSports event. The race, set for a 4 PM ET start on Saturday, will feature the 2012 Camaro GT3 car on the rFactor 2 Simulator platform.

To even the playing field, all cars will be prepared identically with spec trim. “Taking Trans Am racing to the virtual world is a historic move for the series,” said The Trans Am Racing Company President John Clagett. “We miss racing just as much as our fans and drivers, and with the help of our app team, NAGRA,  Sim partner Torque eSports, our media production team, GreenLight.TV, and rFactor 2 Simulator, we will be able to deliver exciting Trans Am racing to a global market during this extended break.”  

Live coverage begins at 4:00 p.m. Eastern with live commentary from Jonathan Green and Ben Cissell, starting with a swift 10-minute qualifying session followed by two 20-minute main events. For added excitement, the second event will feature an inverted field.
