Hey everyone!

After all that’s been going on last week the past few days have been rather quiet on the DiRT side as we gear up for the start of Season 3. The SUBARU Impreza (2001) and Ford Focus Rally 2001 are up next, 2 cars that veterans have fond memories of. I think that SUBARU will be my go-to-pick for the Up to 2000cc Class in-game, can’t get enough of that iconic blue and yellow livery.

In other news we’re carefully monitoring all of the VR feedback you have given us, and investigating the ways that we can improve performance of the feature in future. Some fixes are already in the pipeline while others are in the early discussion stages (nothing is as simple as “flipping a switch” in games development after all). Check out the DiRT Roadbook tomorrow for more info.

Speaking of what’s to come, we’ve got a surprise announcement! You’ll have seen last week that we announced Seasons 3 and 4 of DiRT Rally 2.0, along with what cars and locations you can expect to see over the next few months. One car from Season 4 wasn’t ready to be announced at the time but we’re delighted to confirm now that Oliver Bennett’s Mini Cooper SX1 is coming! This 2019-spec FIA World Rallycross Championship car will join its peers from Ford and Peugeot on January 14. Oliver and XITE Energy have been great supporters of Codemasters games in recent years so it’s great to finally have their top car in DiRT Rally 2.0.

That’ll do it from me, see you all again soon!

  • Added support for separate graphics presets between 2D Mode and VR Mode.

Version 1.8 also sees improvements to VR and the resolution of popular issues relating to Clubs.

The VR updates were already revealed in a recent DiRT Roadbook and are in the Patch Notes below. As a reminder, we are currently investigating the possibility of adding Oculus SDK support to the Steam version of the game, however this will take some time. We’ll share more in the future once things progress.

As for Clubs, a number of fixes come in version 1.8, all related to each other in some way. In short, the “tuning bug”, where Tuning Setups reset to default between Stages, is set to be resolved in this update. Work into this bug has also resulted in potential fixes for car damage, tyre punctures and dirt accumulation being reset between Stages as well.

Version 1.8 of DiRT Rally 2.0 is expected to go live around 10.00 BST on Tuesday, September 3. If you are playing at the time you will have to close the application and potentially restart your console/launcher to download the update. RaceNet will also be taken down for a short while to facilitate the update.

Greece Rally – Available September 10

The next DiRT Rally 2.0 location is coming and we’re off to Greece! Always presenting itself as one of the most gruelling rally locations on any race calendar, Stages in Greece feature dusty roads and hidden rocks, capable of severely damaging cars that cut corners or run too wide in the wrong places. The dusty conditions mean visibility can become an issue for drivers further down the running order.

One thing DiRT fans will be excited about is the inclusion of a rain variant as one of the selectable Stage Conditions. As if Greece wasn’t hard enough it’s doubly-tricky in the rain, yet I’ve already seen Jon Armstrong pull off some crazy stuff in the upcoming F2 Kit Cars!

We’ll have more info on Greece available on Tuesday, and the usual heads-up regarding DLC releases applies: timing varies per platform and region, and Season 3 Deluxe players may need to wait a while before it’s added to their in-game entitlements. Also as a heads-up, we won’t be doing a “Welcome to Greece” show next week (as we did with Wales and Estering) though you can expect more good DiRT gameplay on our YouTube in the future.
