Dopo un silenzio che durava dal Gennaio 2017, torna finalmente a farsi sentire il team di sviluppo di Live for Speed, rilasciando una nuova versione aggiornata di questo interessante simulatore. La release 0.6T di Live for Speed, oltre ad alcune migliorie ed alla correzione di alcuni bugs, porta con sè un notevole miglioramento al comparto multiplayer, mentre il fronte grafico sarà aggiornato prossimamente.

Hello LFS Racers, Today we have released a new update. After some disruptive attacks that took place recently we were forced to make our website and multiplayer systems more robust. As an update was needed, we took the opportunity to do a few more improvements, including some extensive changes to the layout editor. Over the last year and more we have been working on some major graphical improvements in Live for Speed. These are not included in this update. We plan to show some pictures of the improvements later this month. Read all about this update and how to install it on the 0.6T information page.

Dopo un lungo silenzio, torna finalmente a farsi sentire il team di sviluppo di Live for Speed, rilasciando una nuova versione aggiornata di questo interessante simulatore. La release 0.6U di Live for Speed, oltre ad alcune migliorie ed alla correzione di alcuni bugs, porta con sè importanti perfezionamenti per quanto riguarda il comparto dell'utilizzo dei visori VR, molto apprezzati anche dai piloti di questo software.

Today we have an update for you with some important fixes and some new features. This is not the graphics update we have been talking about in recent progress reports. This one is fully compatible with the existing public version. We decided to work on version U after learning about some issues with two new VR headsets that could actually cause eye strain, which made an update really important. We also fixed some other known bugs and took the opportunity to add some new features.

You can try a new setting for the cockpit views. Previously they were always aligned to the car but now you can lock the view to the horizon. Some people can experience motion sickness when driving a car in VR and this option can be a great help for them. With the view locked to the horizon you get a strong feeling of how the car is moving but it can be too much so there is an alternative setting to 'filter' the view. In this case the view still goes with the car's pitch and roll but there is a short time delay while the view catches up to the car. This is quite effective in showing how the car reacts to bumps.

For those of you who like to race offline, we have increased the number of AI drivers you can add and you can now set their skill levels individually in the race setup screen. The F11 and F12 in-game screens can now be used to adjust their live settings and pit strategy. Read all about this update and how to install it on the Live for Speed version 0.6U page.

Changes from 0.6T to 0.6U :

Views:
New setting "View lock" can be set to car / filter / horizon
FIX: Offset mirror was not drawn offset in forces draw (F)

VR:
Updated to the latest version of OpenVR (1.2.10)
Pimax headsets can now be used in native mode (rotated eye views)
Minimum value for manual FOV setting reduced from 80 to 75 degrees
FIX: An error in OpenVR caused Samsung Odyssey+ wrong eye levels
FIX: A loss of accuracy in the automatic FOV calculation

Multiplayer:
Server side improvement to speed up recovery when there is lag
FIX: Timing bug that allowed damage repair to be done in zero time

AI:
You can now set the skill level of individual AI drivers
Single player race limit increased to 32 drivers (AI + real)
You can now change AI live settings / pit instructions (F11 / F12)
Command /aiskill X to set skill level 1 to 5 (for adding new AI)
Command /aiset name X to set AI driver 'name' to skill level X
Command /aiset_all X to set all local AI drivers to skill X
FIX: In overtaking lesson all AI drivers had PRO skill level
FIX: Non-qualifying race restart affected the overtaking lessons
FIX: Spam "This car does not have a handbrake" when hit parked AI

Interface:
Increased resolution of dashboard texture
Faster saving of screenshots when you press CTRL+S
Driver name and AI skill level are now shown in F11 / F12 windows
Entry screen shows "Unlock Live for Speed" instead of "Demo racer"
New key CTRL+P to copy the LFS window to clipboard excluding border
FIX: Some narrow unicode characters corrupted by an incorrect width
FIX: Host options could state "no bans" before clicking "edit bans"
FIX: Character dialog could be messed up when selecting languages

Misc:
Gearshift debounce code changed to help with the button release
SHIFT+F2/F3 can adjust time in single player mode (not hotlapping)
FIX: Attributes no longer copied when opening file by command line
FIX: Crash at startup when loading a corrupted car model file
Most translations updated. Thank you translators!

Graficamente è un qualocsa di inguardabile.

Cmq qualcuno che lo ha provato? Opinioni?

Magari è "brutto" graficamente perché è uscito nel 2003?🤣 Come sim, LFS è stato qualcosa di pionieristico, ancora oggi ha feature incredibili per un gioco tanto vecchio, supporta il VR e gli specchietti retrovisori sono veri (vedi anche la tua auto e puoi regolarli liberamente). Ha una fisica ottima, divertente e realistica, puoi gareggiare anche su sterrato e ha una ricca scuola guida. Attualmente non so quanto sia frequentato, ma ai tempi la community (che non è mai stata enorme) era parecchio attiva e la piattaforma LFS World ha aiutato tantissimo (con essa puoi pubblicare livree, confrontare hotlap e avere la possibilità di provare i setup dei migliori). Se non lo hai mai provato, sul loro sito c'è la versione di prova, con 2-3 auto e un tracciato con vari layout.

Il team di Live for Speed ha rilasciato una nuova patch beta di aggiornamento che porta il simulatore alla versione 0.6U 14, apportando varie migliorie e bugfix. L'update è compatibile con le versioni precedenti 0.6U.

Changes from 0.6U13 to 0.6U14:
Multiplayer:
Command /showfuel (no/yes) allows remote car fuel load to be seen
Most admin commands with parameter omitted report current value
FIX: Car on pit speed limiter sent maximum packets per second
FIX: Remote car's tyre temperature over 200 appeared black (cold)
FIX: Remote tyre temperatures increased too slowly in skid or spin

MPR debug commands:
/mprlag X simulates online packet delay of X ms (+ no smoothing)
/mprsmooth X (0 or 1) to disable or enable input smoothing

CPU usage display:
In Graphics or Misc options (in-game) click the car icon then 'P'
You can now see CPU usage for Physics, Draw, Prediction, etc.
The "Pred" line shows CPU usage for prediction of remote cars
Prediction time also shows up in an MPR if /mprlag is set

Support for live multiplayer replays:
Replay identified as live when starting to watch an unfinished MPR
Does not exit replay after fast forwarding to current time
Catch up to live position by clicking >| button
Skins can be downloaded while watching a live replay
Save replay while temp_mpr is being viewed - copy instead of rename
Start new mpr while temp_mpr is in use - tries temp_mpr_1 (up to 9)
/mprflush X to flush mpr to file every X seconds (0 = disable)

VR:
Virtual keyboard is shown at dialog height if no dialog is visible
Space bar VR click auto disabled when you type with real keyboard

Misc:
Increased distance for car subobjects to become invisible
FIX: Free view roll is now reported in InSim IS_CPP packet

Il team di Live for Speed ha rilasciato da qualche giorno la nuova patch versione 0.6V per il suo simulatore.

La release 0.6V contiene molte nuove funzionalità, correzioni e miglioramenti, ma non si tratta dell'aggiornamento grafico di cui si è già parlato nei mesi scorsi. L'update utilizza ancora lo stesso sistema fisico della versione precedente, ma consente una gamma più ampia di opzioni di configurazione per alcune delle auto. La scelta è stata fatta per accontentare le richieste di rallycross e drifting.

Angoli di sterzata più ampi e un'ampia gamma di pneumatici sono ora possibili sulle vetture GTR selezionando una nuova configurazione nella schermata. Ciò consente anche alcune interessanti possibilità per le gare su pista poiché è possibile selezionare pneumatici più stretti, il che può aiutare quando si creano classi da corsa con potenza inferiore per alcuni eventi. This one still uses the same physics system as the public version it replaces, but allows a wider range of setup options for some of the cars.

We have had requests over the years to allow more possibilities for rallycross and drifting. We were able to implement these changes by making a new version that could not connect online with the old version. Wider steering angles and a wide range of tyres are now possible on the GTR cars by selecting a new ALTERNATE configuration in the setup screen. This also allows some interesting possibilities for hard track racing as narrower tyres can be selected, which can help when creating lower powered racing classes for some events.

As we were making an incompatible version, it was a good opportunity to improve the prediction system that allows you to see remote cars driving on your screen. Every car's position, velocity, fuel load, damage and so on are transmitted frequently to all the other racers on a server. We have used various methods to make this information more accurate so the cars appear to move more smoothly. We were also able to improve some things about pit stops. For example you can now change tyres without being forced to repair body or suspension damage.

There are really a lot of updates in this version. They include improvements for force feedback, controls including steering wheels and handbrake, more layout objects, VR, views, InSim and OutSim.

Four ways to get version 0.6V:
1) AUTO UPDATER - If you already have version 0.5V or later :
- Click on "Multiplayer" then "List of Hosts" in LFS and choose a download mirror.

2) MANUAL PATCH (2.2 MB) - If you already have version 0.6R or later :
- Click HERE and save the patch installer.
- You can run the patch installer from its download location or from your LFS folder.

3) MANUAL PATCH (139 MB) - If you already have version 0.6M or later :
- Click HERE and save the patch installer.
- You can run the patch installer from its download location or from your LFS folder.

4) FULL VERSION (496 MB) - If you are new to LFS or making a fresh installation.
- Click HERE to visit the download page and get the full version installer.
