Great news for us again!! Dutch Superstar Max Verstappen has joined us, after an incredible rise in real racing, Max joins us to practise and remain at the top of his game.

Max later said, "I enjoy simracing outside of Formula 1. Ive been working with Atze for a while already and of course with Team Redline and Fanatec I'll be sharing the virtual track with the fastest simracers in the world which is a great test and the way I like it!"

Team manager Atze was equally pleased, "I'm happy and honoured to have Max onboard at Team Redline! Looking forward to continue our sim battles like we did in the F3 last year." "It's great having Max onboard, he was immediately incredibly fast in sim racing a unique natural talent, very proud to have him representing us in the sim racing world."
Dom, Team Principal

We had quite a few questions on what Max was doing training wise in iRacing, let's just say he's been practising hard:P Check out some of the moves between Atze and Max - seems familiar!:)

Max Verstappen: "I sorpassi?

You’ve mentioned GPL being a part of the team’s history. Papyrus’ game is approaching the two-decade mark now, which means some sim racers have the unique experience of growing up with these realistic simulators. How do you find that changes things?

Dom Duhan: GPL was huge for us, there were a few things it did that moved sim racing to new levels and indeed weren’t matched for many years. The GPL physics engine felt so dynamic and even to this date despite being superseded by most other titles out there, it still feels relatively good. It was also insanely difficult to drive, some of our drivers like Greger or Andy Wilke drove in leagues where you would race 100 laps of Monaco with full damage, one tap of the wall and you are out – this training shaped many of the top sim racers for the next 10 years.

Playseat visits Max Verstappen!
Playseat visits Max VerstappenWhen someone like Max Verstappen – youngest Formula 1 driver ever ánd Playseat racer since he was nine! – needs a new racing setup installed, Playseat gladly goes by for a visit! We placed a custom made “Max Verstappen F1 seat” in his gaming room. The simulator is completely tailored to Max’s wishes: a unique Playseat® rig with a Bodnar racing wheel and Heusinkveld pedals. For the most realistic experience, we helped him with the settings of the hardware. To get it just right, there was a lot of testing, of which you can see a video and some photos below!
The new setup provides a very realistic simulation which helps Max to prepare for real races, but also means a lot of racing fun in his free time! We had a nice time installing the Playseat® simulator and are proud Max races at home with our rig! Hopefully we will see a lot more awesome new overtakes by Max coming Formula 1 season, which might just be practiced while seated in his Playseat® simulator. Good luck, Max!

What are the biggest differences and what do you find toughest about virtual racing?
One of the toughest things is the fact the feel of the car is completely different, it doesn’t feel like it does in reality because you don’t have the G-forces and that makes it much more difficult to control. There are some tricks you can do on a virtual sim compared to a real car that can help you but in general it’s about 90 per cent the same.
