What files are needed to creat a server?

I want to delete all the textures/sfx unused files to make a package with the needed files to host a dedicated server.

Why the servers I host arent displayed in the server list?

Even if I create them using the game or the nkserver file.

I suggest you to donwnload nkServerTool

When you start up a server with this tool, it will create a subfolder for each server on this path {nk home}\server\configs\servers.

This is the minimum set of files you need for the server.

Regarding the server not displayed on the server list, it should be related to your router.

You need to do port forwarding towards your server.

Thank you for your help but.

That tools isn't made for dedicated servers, Its just usefull to create the ini file.

When im talking about the minimum set of files I mean all the files.

I manage to make the server works

with only these files/dir

dir cfg

dir tracks

dir servers

exe

Also the problem that my server doesnt appears on the serverlist got something to do with .ini

I'm using that tool in my dedicated server.

maybe I haven't been clear enough before, but what I meant was that if you start up a server with nkservertool it will create a new folder for each nKserver instance that you want to run.

nkservertool creates a copy of the files it needs. That's why I'm saying, if you look in that folder structure you will find the minimum set of files needed to run your server. As you will notice not so much is needed.

Regarding the server list, I'm pretty sure it's not a .ini problem (you said it doesn't work from the inferface also), but a connectivity problem. My bet is on a misconfiguration on the firewall or the on router.

Good luck

I dont want to run the servers like you did.

I want to use a game control panel to manage them.

So I only need the files to do that.

No textures or sounds.

Thats what im talking about.

I say its a ini problem because with a given cfg was ok.

Few simple steps to make a dedicated NKP server:

1. Make a root folder for dedicated netKar PRO server and copy "nkserver.exe" file there.

2. Copy "server" folder from NKP installation directory.

3. Make "cfg" folder and put "nkservercfg.ini" file there.

4. Make "tracks" folder and subfolders for each needed track with same names.

5. Copy each folder "server" from nkp tracks to server ones. Example: nkp1.3\tracks\aosta\server -> nkpserver\tracks\aosta\server).

Run your server :)

If you have router make sure that server's port is open.

PS: I didn't test this method with NKP 1.3 Beta, but it worked well with previous versions.

PPS: sorry for English there.

lo provo, alcune curiosita'

--------------------------------

main config

- quanto metto di langhezza di banda? ho una adsl mi pare a 5 o 8 mega

- cosa vuol dire "registra il server sulla rete netkar?

- cosa vuol dire "use custom grid"?
