To celebrate the official conclusion of the North American GT Academy competition on Speed TV (hopefully you were able to join GTPlanet’s live viewing party!), Polyphony Digital and SCEA have now made the Nissan GT-R GT500 Stealth Model available as a free download in North America.

To download the car, head to the PlayStation Store and select “Redeem Codes” in the top right corner. Next, enter the following code…

…and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. That’s it! The code will be valid through January 30, 2012.

Much like the Honda NSX GT500 Stealth Model which will be included for free in the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 DLC pack, the GT-R GT500 Stealth Model car was previously only available in the GT5 Signature Edition or as a pre-order incentive.

Scusami per la segnalazione ma vedo che e' scritto che tale codice vale solo per il nord america a noi a che dovrebbe servire?

Molti utenti hanno criticato la scelta di bloccare auto e piste a un solo account per ogni PS3, che costringe ad effettuare più acquisti anche chi una stessa console. Per fortuna Kazunori Yamauchi annuncia via Twitter che il prossimo aggiornamento a Gran Turismo 5 di dicembre toglierà il limite del singolo account per i contenuti scaricabili. Nello stesso update ci sarà un'altra modifica alle auto del primo DLC che le sposta nei rivenditori, così che sia possibile ricomprarle quando i primi modelli avranno prestazioni peggiorate. Infine, è annunciato un "omaggio" per gli acquirenti dei vari contenuti scaricabili nello stesso periodo, ancora top secret.

Following the community reaction to some of the intricacies of the downloadable content released earlier in the week (or next week for North America), Kazunori Yamauchi has been busy working on solutions and responding to complaints via Twitter. The latest of these includes a nod to the present, one-off nature of the car pack:

We’re planning an another update for GT5 in December. In that update users who purchased cars and tracks from the DLC already, can receive a free “family upgrade” in the PS Store, which will let all users in the same PS console use the DLC. People who bought the DLC cars will have those cars added to the dealers in the December update.

After this December update you can purchase a second car and so on from the dealer.

This comes as great news to gamers who’ve bought the car pack but who have been reticent to drive the cars for fear of wearing them out and for those unable to buy the DLC packs for their primary Gran Turismo gaming accounts (or their children’s accounts). Following on from these Tweets, Yamauchi also provided a tantalising teaser (and a small caution) to those gamers who have already purchased the DLC packs:

Next, don’t get your hopes up too high, but PDI is also readying a X-mas present for those who’ve already bought multiple DLCs.

Sony ha rilasciato un nuovo trailer per Gran Turismo 5, relativo in particolare alla Spec 2.0, l'aggiornamento disponibile dall'11 ottobre che va a ottimizzare una serie di elementi che finora avevano lasciato un po' perplessi. Il pacchetto aggiunge al gioco base undici nuove vetture NASCAR, miglioramenti dell'IA, maggiori possibilità per l'editor di tracciati, nuove feature relative alle corse in remoto e una migliore gestione del salvataggi, con particolare riferimento alle gare di resistenza.

Si ringraziano Yamauchi & Co per aver regalato il prototipo della Red Bull: con quello è un piacere fare le gare di Tipo B, si risparmia una quantità di tempo incredibili.

Prego. Non sono un gran amante di tale modalità, per cui se riesco a ottenere qualche auto bonus a costo zero ben venga.

Adesso che c'è anche la possibilità di fare il 200% dei guadagni è ancora più comodo (basta avviare per 5 giorni di fila GT5 con la connessione attivata).

Nonostante vada premiato l'impegno di Kazunori Yamauchi e colleghi, il discorso conclusivo che abbiamo fatto l'anno scorso è ancora valido oggi, sopratutto con un rivale agguerrito (se non del tutto superiore) come Forza Motorsport 4. La grafica, ad esempio, inizia a mostrare qualche lacuna nei punti sensibili già notati all'esordio: piste e vetture riciclate dai vecchi episodi, tearing e rallentamenti, arrivando alle vituperate auto standard (ancora più ridicole, in molti casi, con la nuova "finta cabina"). Per tornare ai fasti di un tempo, Gran Turismo deve fare piazza pulita del proprio passato e ripartire dagli elementi più riusciti: il modello di guida, le configurazioni della modalità arcade e ovviamente le auto premium. Un taglio netto che non può avvenire tramite patch ma che dovrà essere la priorità del sesto capitolo....
