Games e la 10Tacle hanno annunciato il lancio del nuovo BMW M3 Challenge: si tratta di un nuovo simulatore di guida dedicato alla berlina tedesca che sarà scaricabile e giocabile gratuitamente a partire dall'apertura del prossimo salone dell'auto di Francoforte. The authentic driving experience is once more based on the award-winning technology of the internationally acclaimed “GT Legends” and developed together with the close co-operation of the BMW engineers. It was closely calibrated to match the brand new model launched this year. Road performance, sound and optics, as well as the detailed distance conversion of the Nürburgring, one of Europe’s most challenging race tracks, provide the player with a realistic test drive of the newest sports car under race conditions.

The launch of the new game will take place at the IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt. Visitors to the trade show will get a taste of the first laps in the BMW M3 simulator. The joyride will afterwards be available on four game modes at home. Players can compare their own driving abilities with those of other drivers in the extensive online mode. Up to 16 cars will be waiting at the starting line when the traffic light turns green at this winter’s BMW M3 Challenge online competition. BMW will award prizes to the best international drivers.

Nuovo contributo filmato per Need for Speed: ProStreet, l'ennesima incarnazione del franchise arcade di casa Electronic Arts che sta sollevando commenti positivi un po' ovunque venga mostrato - vedi la scorsa Game Convention di Lipsia - ed è da oggi confermato in uscita in Europa per il 1 novembre.

Più che commenti, le supersportive mostrate in questo video sono intente a sollevare parecchio fumo, grazie anche al nuovo effetto speciale deputato esclusivamente alla "vaporizzazione" degli pneumatici, certamente uno degli elementi più spettacolari nelle gare di eccelerazione. E proprio sulla disciplina "drag racing" è focalizzato questo nuovo filmato, commentato da uno dei produttori, Justin Wiebe, che spiega la meccanica di gioco associata a questo tipo di gare che, come tutte le altre rappresentate in Need for Speed: ProStreet, si tiene in strade chiuse al traffico e quindi nel pieno rispetto della legalità.

La divisione europea Sony ha fissato entro il 2007 il debutto di Gran Turismo 5 Prologue che, almeno in Europa, uscirà sia come titolo scaricabile dalla rete, sia come uscita per i negozi su disco Blu-ray. A livello di specifiche, si sottolinea ovviamente il gioco online per 16 utenti in contemporanea (per la prima volta nella serie Gran Turismo) e le 40 vetture che potremo guidare, più altri modelli acquistabili tramite appositi "negozi" collegati alla rete.

Tra le funzioni presenti nel gioco, ci sarà Gran Turismo TV, ovvero una raccolta di filmati aggiornata costantemente sul mondo dei motori. Per quanto riguarda il lato puramente grafico, il gioco si muoverà a 60 fotogrammi al secondo alla risoluzione massima di 1080p, mentre i replay (probabilmente visti gli effetti speciali aggiunti) scenderanno ai più classici 30.
