So with the Shift titles we were obviously moving iteratively towards a more ‘sim’ style title. Shift 1 was the introduction of circuit racing to the previously illegal action/arcade titles from previous years. Shift 2 then introduced the ‘Superman versions’ of road cars with GT3, GT1 and other forms of real motorsport with Drift, Drag, Time Attack, and Endurance. Each step of the way we were also adding more depth to the physics, handling, controls, options, and general realism whilst still maintaining that core experience of ‘what it really feels like out on the track’. Compared to existing sim racing titles at the time though we still had a number of steps to go in terms of audience expectation on what they believed were key differentiators between the Shift titles and what they were used to and we appreciated those and have taken them on board wholeheartedly for Project CARS....

Il 15 maggio 2013 Gran Turismo festeggerà il suo quindicesimo anniversario, e per tale data sono previste delle novità, riguardanti la serie, da parte di Sony. In un evento speciale previsto sul circuito britannico di Silverstone, Sony e Polyphony Digital hanno intenzione di effettuare "annunci esaltanti" riguardo la serie Gran Turismo e il suo futuro. Non ci sono al momento informazioni più precise ma ovviamente il pensiero corre subito a Gran Turismo 6, che ricorre ultimamente nelle voci di corridoio riguardanti Sony, anche in vista dell'arrivo di PlayStation 4. Per ora accontentiamoci del trailer di presentazione...

Dopo un lungo silenzio, il team ISI, per voce di Tim Wheatley, torna ad aggiornarci sullo sviluppo in corso riguardo a rFactor2: il team sperava di rilasciare una build nuova nelle scorse settimane, ma alcuni imprevisti hanno rovinato loro i piani. Contemporaneamente sta testando numerose novità, come la SLS safety car, Palm Beach, una vettura BTCC e persino Silverstone del quale vedete uno screen qui sotto. Inoltre sono in arrivo due nuove licenze, per un circuito ed una vettura. Commenti e discussioni sul forum.

Quick update on what everyone is working on... We've been intending to release a core build for over a week, or two. Issues prevented. We are now testing Build 214 internally (some people like to know the number...). Thanks for your patience.

We're testing older content (Palm Beach, for example) not yet released in component form. We've been testing the FISI 2012 and SLS safety car in component form also.

Car guys are working on a BTCC car primarily (this doesn't mean this alone).

Track guys are working on Silverstone mainly (this doesn't mean this alone).

As far as licensing, there are some nice possibilities on both the car and track sides. We'll be announcing two exciting high-profile licenses this month (track license acquired last year, car license signed this week). Both these pieces of content will most likely be high in priority for main production focus.

Terzo trailer di gioco per MotoGP 13 di Milestone. Questo nuovo video ci mostra finalmente piloti e livree aggiornati alla stagione in corso ed offre un primo sguardo ai menu di gioco. Al fine di immedesimare maggiormente il giocatore nel ruolo del pilota è stata fatta una scelta interessante: le varie opzioni disponibili prima di scendere in pista sono presentate come se fossero viste attraverso il casco, con il pilota che si alza e va a sedersi sulla moto quando si decide di avviare la sessione. Cosa ne pensate?

Il team di iRacing ha deciso di portare il simulatore made in USA anche sui sistemi Mac e Linux, in considerazione del fatto che gli utenti di queste piattaforme "costituiscono comunque il 15% - 25% dell'intero mercato" e di conseguenza non possono essere ignorati. Gli sviluppatori sono già alla ricerca di testers su questi sistemi.

Some of you may be happy to know that we have been working on porting iRacing to run on Mac and Linux. By rough estimates Apple and Linux make up between 15% - 25% of the market space and as far as we can tell nothing like iRacing exists on those platforms. We are actually far enough along with this project that we have our first build to test. This is exciting for iRacing because we could see a nice jump in members with this port.

Milestone annuncia oggi il prossimo arrivo di una demo per MotoGP 13, la nuova simulazione motociclistica su licenza FIM MotoGP World Championship 2013. Valentino Rossi, Marc Márquez, Gran Premio de Catalunya, Quick Race di 3 giri: questo è il testing che avremo a disposizione con il dimostrativo. Una volta scaricata la demo, si avrà la possibilità di selezionare tra i due piloti e gareggiare, per tre giri completi, attraverso uno dei circuiti meglio realizzati dell'epoca moderna e premiato da IRTA nel 2001 con il prestigioso trofeo al Miglior Gran Premio. Inoltre, per offrire ai giocatori un anteprima sul gioco tutte le opzioni saranno disponibili. La demo sarà disponibile a partire dal mese di giugno.
