Fra i tanti video dedicati a Project CARS, vi segnaliamo due video di confronto realizzati dal nostro amico DigiProst: nel primo trailer il paragone è con la Monza di Gran Turismo 5, mentre nel secondo possiamo ammirare il paragone con la realtà del tracciato di Bathurst.

Slightly Mad Studios ha rilasciato come consuetudine del venerdi la nuova build aggiornata del suo Project CARS: la release 531 è disponibile tramite Steam per tutti gli utenti registrati Junior Member+. Vi ricordiamo che anche questa build, come le precedenti, permette di accedere al sistema Car Physics Focus Testing, per il beta testing avanzato della fisica dei veicoli. In particolare questa settimana il sistema CPFT focalizza la sua attenzione sul testing della BMW M3 GT2 e della Lotus 78, riservando a tutti i simdrivers che vorranno provarle l'accesso al Ranking. Da non perdere come al solito video e screens di anteprima!

Il team di iRacing ha rilasciato una patch per aggiornare l'ultima build Season 3 del simulatore: fra le novità apportate dall'upgrade, ritorna il supporto al sistema Oculus Rift, che potete ammirare nel video sottostante.

Durante il recente viaggio a Spa, per la scansione del circuito belga, Marco Massarutto della Kunos ha pubblicato su Facebook un paio di foto interessanti. Sotto alla prima c'era scritto "nulla succede a caso", frase che avevamo già trovato nello scatto della Sauber C9 (al quale è poi succeduto l'annuncio della licenza Mercedes). Si tratta di due immagini di vetture storiche dell'Alfa Romeo: che questo possa preannunciare un gradito arrivo della casa del biscione in Assetto Corsa?

Codemasters ha confermato l'eliminazione del temutissimo Online Pass da F1 2013: anche gli inglesi quindi bocciano questo sistema di "sicurezza" adottato inizialmente dai publisher come deterrente all'acquisto di giochi usati, ma che non si è evidentemente rivelato troppo valido, dal punto di vista economico e soprattutto di immagine. "Abbiamo recentemente rivisto il sistema di attivazione VIP Pass e abbiamo deciso di non includerlo in F1 2013 e in F1 2013: Classic Edition", ha riferito un portavoce di Codemasters. I simdrivers possono tirare un sospiro di sollievo...

Why no McLaren?

There’s no doubting McLaren’s pedigree in F1 over the two eras which we are featuring. Sadly for us, they have exclusive development rights with another game which we weren’t able to overcome in the timeframe we needed. Discussions are ongoing and we would love to feature McLaren, and other F1 Teams, in the future. This is very much our first step into the ‘Classic Arena’....

Con il termine "cross conversions" si intendono le conversioni modding di vetture o piste da un titolo ad un altro: ad esempio un tracciato di GTR Evolution dei Simbin trasportato in rFactor2 degli ISI. Proprio la conversione del Nordschleife, iniziata dal German Modding Team, ha fatto alzare la voce alla software house svedese, che con questo lungo comunicato ha chiarito di considerare illegali anche le conversioni munite di DVD Check.

We therefore ask you to look up at the many great talents in our community that create new cars and tracks from the ground up, these people put a great amount of time and effort into their work, that can only be praised. We believe that is where the skill is, that is where respect is earned. There are many talented people around that can create content for many years to come, and if you cant wait for that one bit of content you really want. Start your own project, its a great skill to have and who knows where it might bring you in the future!

We hope that this call to stop these conversions is picked up by the community leaders and owners, league owners and other developers to run a tight ship in their neighbourhood.

- No more cross game conversion, including conversion with a DVD check

- Upgrading and modifying existing game files in the original game is allowed

- Converting content from older SimBin games, to newer SimBin games is allowed and vice versa, but only with the DVD check.

- Converting content from a SimBin game to any other game not produced by SimBin is not allowed

- Converting content from any game any other competitive game should not be allowed

- Creating new content from the ground up will be praised

If people want to learn modding, join a mod group, don't convert original game content from one to another, its not legal and its not right. Il team Slightly Mad Studios ha implementato una nuova ed interessante feature all'interno del suo Project CARS: si tratta del Ranking, per ora in versione beta, ma perfettamente funzionante. In sostanza, prendendo spunto da quello ben noto di Grand Prix Legends, il ranking attribuisce un valore alle prestazioni di ogni singolo pilota, inoltre si integra con il sistema Car Physics Focus Testing (CPFT), per fornire agli sviluppatori importanti feedback ed informazioni riguardanti lo sviluppo della fisica dei vari veicoli.

VirtualR parla di un prossimo "collasso" di Simraceway: secondo varie fonti, la maggior parte del core team dietro Simraceway è stato recentemente lasciato andare via ed il servizio è presumibilmente guidato solamente da un equipaggio ridotto di una manciata di dipendenti. La politica dei prezzi eccessivi attuata dal software ($38 per una sola auto!) potrebbe essere la causa di questa rovinosa caduta... La notizia della possibile scomparsa del titolo non è solo una cattiva notizia per il sim racing in generale ma in particolare per i clienti di Simraceway che hanno pagato somme anche elevate e potrebbero trovarsi senza nemmeno poter più utilizzare il simulatore che, essendo online-based, non sarebbe più possibile giocare se i servers venissero chiusi in modo permanente.

Con un nuovo messaggio su Facebook, Kunos Simulazioni ci mostra due render del cockpit di una delle vetture più attese di Assetto Corsa in quanto è entrata ormai nei cuori di molti appassionati di corse. Si tratta della BMW M3 E30 Group A, inizialmente non prevista per il rilascio iniziale, ma che riuscirà invece ad essere pubblicata nella versione 1.0 grazie al ben noto slittamento della data di uscita del simulatore.
