I've been meaning to post something to you fans, so i guess this is as good a time as any. I'm not involved with NHRA 3 development now, but i'll tell you what i know from my time at Moto1 and stuff i've heard from Ex-eMotorsports people since. In random order...

#CONTINUE#

eMotorsports may exist in name ( and website ), but all the developers were let go a few months ago. The game was still not done at that time, but it was getting close. It didn't have an applet when I last worked on it. It was all within the game. Alot of graphical features and details added at Moto1 were cut, but graphics in the final version are still much better than before. The single player gameplay was stripped to more or less NHRA1 levels... race, race, race, goto next track, repeat.... there were no videos or any kinda eye candy for wining a race or finishing a season. IMO the single player game was shaping up to be very poor by today's standards.

IMO one very unique and cool thing of NHRA1 and 2 were the driver videos... those are gone. We could have easily taken one weekend and gone and filmed all new ones, but Moto1 wouldn't spend the cash to do it. I made it a point to keep the car paints very mod-able. It was very similar to what i did for NHRA2 and ME, but i'm not sure if it has been changed since. Technically you could create your own tracks and new car models for the game using 3DSMax or Maya (we used Maya). The plan was to release the tools so that people could easily add and modify tracks and cars, but i don't know if they will release them now.

In general myself and may others on the old team were very disappointed in the decisions made and what NHRA 2003 became because of them. When i joined Moto1 i was given the choice on what project to work and to the dismay of the guy hiring me i wanted to work on NHRA 2. I didn't know anything about drag racing other than watching one event and playing NHRA1, but i knew that it had the potential to be a NASCAR quality title that was refreshingly unique. I truly believe that drag racing is such a dramatic, simple, and elegant sport that could be captured like no other in video game form. It's a shame we didn't do better. Let's wait and see how much was improved since Moto1.

"GTR - The Ultimate Racing Game" is being created by SimBin Development Team, a worldwide collective of racing fanatics, who are known for their accuracy and stunning realism in their previous work. This will be a new racing simulation featuring the whole season of FIA GT 2003, including all 56 cars that participated in the 2003 season, plus the famous and prestigious endurance race, the Proximus 24 Hours of Spa, all the cars that participated in that specific event, and even a few secrets that will be uncovered by the gamers that really get a hang of the game.

#CONTINUE#

All 10 tracks included in the FIA GT Championship are represented in the game in full 3D detail. The tracks are built from detailed CAD files and GPS-data collected on the tracks for the greatest accuracy possible. The game will also feature additional bonus tracks that will be revealed to the gamer.

The physics of the cars have been developed with the implementation of real computer log-files direct from the teams participating in the series. This data will provide the game with the most advanced and realistic physics ever seen in a racing title. The realism and car handling in the game is one of the most important issues for the developers in SimBin.

Engine sounds are recorded directly from the real cars, both from the inside and from the outside depending on what view you choose to have when playing the game. These roaring sounds will really add to the feeling of the truly tremendous powers in the real cars.

Even most of the drivers will be included in person in the game, sitting in the racing cars with the "real" overalls and faces fully visible inside of their accurate helmets.
Most drivers have a very personal touch on their helmets and it is a fun feature to have included in the game, and just another example of the attention to detail that is being given to GTR."

Need for Speed Undergound grabs you with its sky-high production, and hooks you into its impressively designed single-player mode. The beautiful visuals only heighten your desire to race. But the real kicker here, and the focus of the whole experience, is customizing your ride. If you're not into that element, don't go out and try to buy this as a stand-alone racer. You really have to be dedicated to the car creation, and you have to have the patience for it.

#CONTINUE#

All I see for a title like Need for Speed Underground is room to grow. If this is the ground level, this is a fantastic start. EA could easily craft it into its "Big" series of games if it wanted to, and this would make more sense for the exclusion of a police chase mode -- that's probably the thing we missed most about Underground, as it's a definite side-project for the franchise.

I highly recommend this to racing fans that are into the customization element. Just be warned of the tracks monotony -- the diversity comes in the mind-bending amount of aesthetically different vehicles you can create. Multiplayer, especially Drag mode, is also really entertaining. And if you can get online with the PS2 or PC, you've got a lot of playtime ahead of you.
