Chi non passa le serate regolando alettoni virtuali o studiando manuali di fisica applicata ai motori, troverà in TOCA Race Driver 2: Ultimate Racing Simulator una specie di sogno diventato realtà, ovviamente se rimane un fan delle quattro ruote. Gare per tutti i gusti, un'ampia scelta di vetture diverse tra loro, un alto livello di competitività nel computer e un supporto di rete come non si vedeva da tempo nella categoria (perlomeno su PC, e considerando le connessioni meno di lusso). Se invece cercate un simulatore del tutto realistico, un modello di guida completamente verosimile e una struttura più classica mettetevi comodi, perché di alternative non ne arriveranno molte nel breve periodo...

La Techland ha annunciato che il loro prossimo ed atteso Xpand Rally è entrato nella seconda fase di beta testing, dopo che la prima parte si è conclusa con successo, e si avvia cosi verso il completamento dell'opera.

Second phase of XR beta tests starts on Monday. Techland announced that the work on the game has reached the final stage. The list of features has been closed and now the main focus is on eliminating bugs and tweaking individual elements of the game.

Paweł Zawodny, the project manager of Xpand Rally, says: "We are satisfied with the final result we achieved. We realized all guidelines that we created when we resumed the development of this game at the end of last year. It is very important to us that through the first phase of beta tests we received a lot of constructive comments regarding individual solutions. As a matter of fact, to consider all of the opinions and incorporate the good ones we had to push the release date for September, but thanks to that we are sure that the best racing game of this year will hit the market." The second phase of beta tests will not be dedicated (as planned) to the career mode. Grzegorz Świstowski, the lead programmer, comments on the change of plans: "In this phase of tests we decided to focus on the multiplayer mode, as one of the most important aspects of the game and also on controllers’ compatibility tests. We will get back to the career mode in the final, third phase of the tests, which will take place in 3 weeks and will be carried simultaneously with the second phase for about 2 weeks." The second phase launches on Monday. All official beta testers received invitations to the next phase and those that replied will be able to download the new version for testing from Techland’s server. Just as during the last phase a closed forum for beta testers will be enabled and a bug tracking system will be made available to them.

A questo punto, si fa avanti la convinzione che TOCA Race Driver 2 sia il massimo fra i giochi di guida. Chi apprezza lo stile arcade si divertirà come un pazzo, mentre gli appassionati delle simulazioni non lo troveranno troppo “facile†(a patto di impostare il realismo su Simulazione Estrema).
