Its other merits, or lack thereof, aside, EA Sports is doing something very interesting and probably very right in its console NASCAR series. It's changing the way we look at racing. Slowly and deliberately, it's transforming competitive driving from a lonely solo sport to one that brims with interaction...

Il sito di Total Videogames ha pubblicato una interessante intervista fatta agli sviluppatori del prossimo ed atteso Need for Speed Most Wanted targato EA.

What were some of the main objectives in terms of game design for Need for Speed – Most wanted?
The goal in Need For Speed: Most Wanted is to become the most notorious and illicit street racer. Breaking rules and causing trouble for the cops is key to achieving this infamous reputation. The player must stay one step ahead of the cops, and tuning and customizing your car will do this. What this creates is a great set of gameplay mechanics and something we are sure players will enjoy.

Since EA Sports has gone on a exclusive license buying spree, many gamers were concerned about a lack of product diversity. There really haven’t been many other NASCAR games out for the Xbox, even before the license was exclusive, with the exception of NASCAR Heat when the Xbox console was released....

...The EA driving team is always striving to find ways to innovate and provide fresh game play experiences -- even for such a firmly-established brand like Need for Speed. While Need for Speedâ„¢ Underground 2 was about secret races in the dead of night, in Need for Speed Most Wanted we are exposing that night-time sub culture to an environment where stakes are heightened, and opportunities for bragging rights enter a new dimension - the more extreme side of illicit racing...
