Il team di sviluppo del prossimo iRacing ha annunciato una importante partnership con la Radical Sportscar, che collaborerà attivamente allo sviluppo del simulatore per ottenere livelli di realismo mai raggiunti finora da altri software.

Sports-racing cars are purpose-built competition machines that retain some relationship to road-going vehicles. Nel titolo di Eden Studios e Atari tornerà la versione classica della Maserati 3500 GT, che proviene dagli anni '60, e la moderna MC12, prodotta l'anno scorso in serie limitatissima e caratterizzata da oltre 700 cavalli di potenza sotto il cofano. Atari and Eden reveal another magnificent addition to Test Drive Unlimited; a car that inspires awe and jealousy among car owners today: the Maserati. The name “Maserati†invokes images of luxury, power and prestige. It’s exactly the make of car you’d imagine to see cruising around the lush and tropical island of Oahu. SimBin ha annunciato il suo prossimo lavoro destinato al mondo PC e ovviamente si tratta ancora di un simulatore di guida: RACE - The official WTCC Game. Realizzato in collaborazione con il canale satellitare Eurosport, questo titolo offrirà le auto, i tracciati e le licenze ufficiali del campionato World Touring Car Championship di quest'anno, con particolare attenzione al lato "televisivo".

Durante i replay, soprattutto, vedremo tagli, zoomate e montaggi ispirati a Eurosport che ovviamente influenzerà anche l'intera grafica dei menu. A livello di contenuti, RACE promette maggiore realismo (rispetto alla serie GTR) nella riproduzione dei danni e negli effetti atmosferici, con la possibilità che i pezzi staccati dalle auto possano danneggiare realmente le altre vetture. One concern has to do with the car handling. Though, in all fairness, Test Drive Unlimited is still a work-in-progress—and Atari said that it and developer Eden Games have been spending countless hours testing and balancing the game—a long-running observation has been that the driving wasn’t up to the same quality as the game’s graphics and depth. The latest play session still felt like the car physics and steering aren’t spot on, but we’re hoping that the remaining development time will polish up the rough spots.
