La Virtual Competition Organization (VCO), nome che molti di voi conoscono già come uno dei più importanti organizzatori di eventi eSport, ha annunciato una collaborazione con lo studio MUNIQ Design per la creazione di una gamma di veicoli specifici per il simracing, progettati apposta per gli eSport.

Denominato "VCARUS - the Digital Race Car Manufactory", il progetto mira a produrre auto da corsa virtuali che non siano soggette alle stesse regole e regolamenti di quelle comunemente utilizzate negli eSport, traendo ispirazione da importanti auto da corsa storiche, apparentemente alla ricerca del meglio di entrambi i mondi.

Negli ultimi tempi VCO ha organizzato molte competizioni di eSport di successo, inclusa la ERL Spring Cup utilizzando Assetto Corsa Competizione, ma adesso sono in cantiere diversi progetti per creare auto su varie piattaforme, con i primi frutti del lavoro di VCO e MUNIQ Design che saranno svelati all'ADAC SimRacing Expo di Norimberga il 4 dicembre prossimo. L'obiettivo finale del team è quello di correre con l'auto esclusivamente nella Esports Racing World Cup di VCO tra il 24 e il 26 febbraio 2023.

“VCARUS è forse il progetto più eccitante che abbiamo intrapreso con VCO. Le gare di eSport offrono il palcoscenico perfetto per lo sviluppo di un marchio completamente nuovo e di auto da corsa audaci e innovative. Il radicamento nel mondo degli sport motoristici reali è una delle pietre miliari di questa disciplina di Esports", ha affermato Florian Hasper, CEO di VCO. “Tuttavia, siamo convinti che ci sia ancora spazio per concetti totalmente nuovi, che riconoscano il vero sport automobilistico, aprendo allo stesso tempo le porte a una nuova generazione di auto da corsa nel mondo virtuale, che possono essere guidate da centinaia di migliaia di sim racer di tutto il mondo”, ha continuato.

“La prima volta che ci siamo incontrati, Florian ed io ci siamo resi conto che questo sarebbe stato il nostro progetto di collaborazione. Come appassionato pilota virtuale, con il direttore creativo Marco Wietrzychowski alla guida di un team di designer che amano le corse automobilistiche, abbiamo avuto l'opportunità di realizzare ogni singolo aspetto di una Racing Vision, dall'idea iniziale al prodotto virtuale", ha affermato Christoph Sieber, amministratore delegato della MUNIQ Design GmbH con sede a Monaco. "Lavorare insieme a VCO per creare VCARUS e portarlo sul circuito virtuale in un modo innovativo, creativo e tangibile per la comunità internazionale dimostra che abbiamo raggiunto questo obiettivo", ha affermato Sieber.

MUNIQ Design opera prevalentemente nel campo del design automobilistico, collaborando con i clienti per aiutare a produrre prodotti sostenibili e funzionali. Ha anche una certa esperienza nella creazione di veicoli simulati (nella foto qui sopra un esempio), avendo precedentemente costruito una mod per auto elettrica per Assetto Corsa.

Al momento non si conoscono ulteriori dettagli sul progetto VCARUS, se non l'immagine ad inizio articolo ed il trailer riportato qui sotto, ma certamente c'è già tanta curiosità...

EA e Codemasters hanno annunciato che F1 22 riceverà ulteriori aggiornamenti da domani, con l'aggiunta del nuovo contenuto del Campionato del mondo di Formula 2 FIA 2022, completo di una stagione di 14 round, F2 Sprint e nuovi piloti come Logan Sargeant, Jack Doohan e il nuovo Campione, Felipe Drugovich.

La prossima settimana vedrà quindi la modalità My Team ottenere il leggendario "Flying Finn" Mika Häkkinen come ultima icona del gioco, celebrando i Campionati del mondo consecutivi del pilota nel 1998 e nel 1999. Potremo anche rivendicare una livrea, un casco, una tuta da gara e guanti ispirati agli Stati Uniti, oltre alla celebrazione del podio "The Griddy".

Il 12 ottobre verrà lanciato anche il Podium Pass Series 3 per F1 22, che introduce trenta livelli di premi gratuiti e VIP da sbloccare. I contenuti del FIA F2 World Championship 2022 e la livrea speciale McLaren Future Mode (disponibile fino a dicembre), arriveranno entrambi in F1 22 dall'11 ottobre, mentre Mika Häkkinen sarà aggiunto a My Team dal 17 ottobre.

Sector 3 ha appena rilasciato per il suo Raceroom Racing Experience il nuovo WTCR 2022 car pack, DLC ufficiale che ci mette a disposizione nel simulatore le ultime vetture di classe TCR del mondiale turismo. Il pacchetto può essere acquistato direttamente nello shop ufficiale per euro 18,95 e contiene tutti i 5 modelli di vetture con le varie livree del campionato. Studio 397 svela il primo contenuto del terzo trimestre 2022 per rFactor 2: World Wide Technology Raceway! Un nuovissimo circuito a scansione laser, WWTR, o Gateway, come è noto negli sport motoristici statunitensi, è un percorso stradale americano di 1,6 miglia costruito all'interno del tracciato ovale, con sede appena a est di St. Louis, Missouri , negli Stati Uniti.

Come parte di questa nuova versione, è stato scansionato al laser e creata la configurazione del percorso ovale e stradale di questo interessante piccolo tracciato americano.

Nel 28° anniversario della morte del leggendario Ayrton Senna, il team Sector3 annuncia che il circuito brasiliano di Interlagos sarà presto disponibile per RaceRoom Racing Experience.

L'Autodromo José Carlos Pace, meglio conosciuto semplicemente come Interlagos, è il circuito collinare e ventoso che ospita il Gran Premio del Brasile di Formula 1. Nessuna data è stata ancora confermata per questo rilascio, sebbene RaceRoom sia in genere veloce tra l'annuncio e le date di rilascio.

Da notare però la forma sfocata sotto il tributo a Senna: chiaramente un'auto monoposto, che sembra essere però una ruote scoperte moderna ispirata alla Formula 1, visto che si nota quello che sembra essere il sistema protettivo Halo.

RaceRoom offre una vasta gamma di auto, ma le moderne auto ispirate alla F1 sono praticamente assenti, quindi i fan del titolo sperano che questa nuova vettura si riveli una versione recente di una F1. RaceRoom celebrerà il 10° anniversario della sua uscita il prossimo mese...

Studio 397 ha appena annunciato il prossimo arrivo per il suo rFactor 2 del leggendario tracciato inglese di Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit.

Good news for fans of British motorsport, as today we are absolutely delighted to announce that the iconic twists and turns of the Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit are coming to rFactor 2!

In this new content announcement, we are exceptionally pleased to confirm the much requested arrival of Donington Park in to our sim, one of the most highly regarded and popular race circuits in the United Kingdom, and home to such series as the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), World Superbikes, the Donington Historic Festival and many other National and International grade categories of racing. Having first risen to prominence as a regular on the pre-war Grand Prix schedule, the onset of the second World War would lead to Donington entering a period of disrepair, finding itself like many such venues in the country being repurposed by the British Army to help with the war effort. Following the cessation of hostilities in 1947, Donington Park would take much of the next 30 years to recover as an active racing venue.

Prosegue la collaborazione fra Studio 397, Motorsport Games e la FIA Formula E: è disponibile da oggi infatti il nuovo pacchetto ABB FIA Formula E Season 8, che implementa nel simulatore la nuova stagione delle monoposto elettriche, incluse naturalmente le nuove caratteristiche tecniche della vettura (come la potenza di 250KW) e le regole sportive della stagione 8.

Updated Power Rules

For Season 8, Formula E have introduced a raft of new power rules within the championship, making the current series of the category the fastest yet in the brief history of Formula E. These power output changes have been applied to the new season pack within rFactor 2 as well, subtilty changing the handling characteristics of the new car, introducing an even larger requirement for our virtual drivers to think strategically during races on the various street circuit tracks on which these cars race.

In addition to adding the Formula E series to rFactor 2, Formula E will launch its Accelerate esports series which will be powered by rFactor 2’s in-game competitions platform. Additionally, rFactor 2 will power the Formula E Gaming Arena at future races and events, allowing players to experience the thrill of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in venues all around the world, including Rome, Berlin and New York City.

The partnership between the two brands further builds upon the foundation that was previously set when Motorsport Games conducted the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge esports event for the FIA. The series of esports events, which served as a temporary replacement for the suspended 2019–20 ABB Formula E Championship season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, created a fantastic viewing experience for new and existing fans of the sport.

Car announcement!

Prototype racing within rFactor 2 is about to get a lot more exciting, with the welcome addition of the beautiful Ligier JS P320 set to join the LMP3 roster of cars within the simulation next week – adding another high downforce, high speed endurance racing thoroughbred to rFactor 2.

Ligier Automotive are synonymous with endurance racing in recent years, having originally made their name under the leadership of Guy Ligier in Formula One, proving one of the foremost competitive teams of the 1970s before gradually fading from the sport at the end of the 1990s, but not before Olivier Panis secured a famous final win for the French outfit during a dramatic Monaco Grand Prix in 1996 –  in the final year of the marque before ownership transferred to four time World Champion Alain Prost ahead of the 1997 season.

With such a rich heritage in world motorsport behind the name, Ligier returned to top level motorsport amidst great fanfare both at home and abroad, and since the rebirth of the brand as a racing constructor, after being acquired by Jacques Nicolet in 2013, the French manufacturer would immediately become a hit with fans and drivers alike – with success very close to hand, not least of which would be a highlighted when Ligier became the first manufacturer since Ferrari in 1998 to take home victory spoils in the 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring and the Petit Le Mans in 2016 with the JS P2.

Built for competition within Road to Le Mans, part of the Michelin Le Mans Cup championship and since 2021, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the JS P320 is a mighty competitor out on the track. .

The JS P320 comes to rFactor 2 off the back of an incredibly successful 2021, having won all the US endurance major events last season: 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans.

LMP3 can be considered more of an entry level class of prototype racing, which makes this car a perfect candidate to introduce our drivers to the world of closed top, high downforce machinery, without having to reply too much on experience in order to pilot the car successfully to strong lap times. All the fun of prototype racing, but with the capacity to allow drivers to really get under the skin of the car and produce some great, close racing on track.
