We love these jewels from the past. The fascinating body designs, the bespoke interiors, the technology, the smell of leather and gasoline. Driving them is a real pleasure, and the sound of their engines is like music. But all too often we can’t enjoy these automotive icons to the full because they are kept idle in their garages. TCCT is proud to be launching eClassic, which allows to drive and race with classic cars whenever and wherever – safely and at no cost to the environment, in a genuinely exciting experience. With eClassic TCCT is adding a new dimension to the classic car experience.

Ve ne avevamo già parlato a Settembre del 2020, ora il progetto eClassic simulator della The Classic Car Trust (TCCT) è pronto e sarà presentato dal 15 al 19 Settembre nella cornice di St. Moritz.

Sedersi al volante di un’auto d’epoca di grande valore e scendere in pista è un’esperienza esaltante, ma c'è il rischio di andare a sbattere e danneggiare una vettura spesso dal valore immenso. Se ne è reso conto Fritz Kaiser, banchiere del Liechtenstein e fondatore della The Classic Car Trust, un’associazione che vuole tramandare i valori dell’automobilismo d’epoca. Kaiser è giunto immediatamente alla conclusione che la soluzione migliore fosse quella di utilizzare dei simulatori di guida: nasce così il progetto eClassic.

I simulatori in questione non sono ovviamente per gli appassionati di simracing, ma vere e proprie opere d’arte. Le due postazioni disponibili, color argento e rossa, sono state infatti progettate in collaborazione con Pininfarina e Zagato e riprendono le forme delle sportive d’epoca. Abitacolo dallo stile classico, rivestito di pelle e caratterizzato da finiture di legno e alluminio, con grande volante, la leva del cambio manuale e i tre schermi ad alta risoluzione che rimpiazzano il parabrezza.

Hanno partecipato al progetto la Racing Unleashed di Maranello (per la parte meccanica del simulatore dinamico), la Kunos di Assetto Corsa Pro (versione modificata dell'originale sim Assetto Corsa) e Andrea Montermini, ex pilota F1 che si è occupato del testing. Non manca, per i collezionisti di auto d'epoca, una piattaforma dedicata, chiamata eClassic Club, che consente ai soci della Tcct di incontrarsi e gareggiare virtualmente sul loro circuito preferito. Senza rischiare milioni di euro...

In tribute to the Grand Prix, eClassic presents an exciting novelty in Monaco: the track of the Principality, in its 1966 configuration, is now available to enjoy also in multiplayer mode for truly epic challenges.

The car to be driven is just as special: the green and yellow Lotus 25 World Champion, the one that made Jim Clark famous. For Lotus, it should be remembered, Monaco was the track of their first victories in Formula 1 with Stirling Moss in 1960.

The circuit back then was quite different from today, especially from the exit of the Tunnel and the climb up to the finish line. It will be very interesting to find out what it was once like: a very fast chicane and then a quick section to the long corner to the left of the “Tabac”, then down the straight that led to the Gasometer hairpin bend. That was where some of the greatest overtakes in history were made, often decisive and with smoking wheels.

From today, members of “The eClassic Club” and the guests of the eClassic Lounges will be able to put their passion to the test with a dive into the history of the Monaco GP. Into history, we might add, and not into the sea by mistake at the chicane!
