Time Attack will be a new additional way to compete on iRacing - a single car hotlapping competition. Hop in any time you want, at any track in the schedule, and watch your TA rank soar from Novice to as high as World Champion. It also features a preview of iRacing's new user interface. Stay tuned for further details.

Yesterday we made available Time Attack and a preview of our new user interface (UI). With the new user interface you will be able to
- view scheduled seasons and sessions - join/withdraw from both official and non-official sessions - create and join hosted sessions - launch test sessions - update and purchase content (via redirect to existing membersite) - view and join time attack competitions - view time attack standings - time trials - VR
At this time, you cannot use the preview of the new UI to
- use web team or league functionality (However you could join a league race directly from hosted) - access the forums - paint items - view results or other statistics - manage your account/profile/friends - file protests - manage replays - spectate or ghost (outside of TA) - drive like an alien (unless you are one)
To launch into Time Attack and the associated UI Preview, you can either launch from the membersite menu under "Time Attack", or you need to double click the executable iRacingSim64DX11.exe that is found in the folder of your iRacing installation. In a future update to the service, we'll give you the option to create a link to the executable on your desktop.
For the most seamless operation, we suggest that you enable "remember me" when signing in. When exiting the new UI, if you elect to quit, you will not be prompted when you next use the sim. If you sign-out, you will be prompted for credentials. To better secure your account, you need to sign-out when exiting the sim if others have access to your computer.
There is a "feedback" option on the menu bar of the new sim. Please use this to report bugs and to provide suggestions and feedback. Note that you need to contact support using normal methods for help with any issues. **You will not get a response to anything submitted via the feedback link**, but it will be read. Please consult known issues before doing so at http://www.iracing.com/known-issues-with-the-new-ui/
Please bear in mind that this is a preview. We are aware that there are some bugs, and some performance issues. We haven't yet implemented full redundancy or complete monitoring. We cannot yet automatically scale all services. If things aren't working well for you, we are likely addressing the issue. Give us a bit of time and try again. If the problem remains, please let us know. We intend to collect data that will help us better the offering. Because it is a preview, we may opt to take it offline at any point in time.
Any sessions you join or competitions you participate in are the same as available on the membersite. In other words, there is still only one sim but now two places to get into the sim.(old website and the new UI). While the user interface is in preview, the sessions count. If you register on the membersite, you can withdraw using the new UI, and vice versa. If you have issues with the new UI, you should be able to use the membersite as you would normally. Launching Time Attack sessions will be available only via the new UI.
UPDATE 6/29
Thank you all who have tried the new UI and provided feedback both in the forums and via the new feedback submission mechanism. This latter way is the best if you want to make sure that it is seen by the devs working on the new UI.
Since we released the preview, we already made some updates to address issues. We're also working on things that you've identified, and we hope to have those out to you soon.
Working on: - Issues related to registration, joining and withdrawing from sessions - Test Drive "test" button will accurately reflect content update status - Scrollbar issue when turning on static background - Flash of white light for VR users - Adding filters for Time Trial, Practice, Race - Data filtering speed improvements - Joining Hosted Sessions from the list view - Saving page configuration - VR calibration inside browser - mismatched helmet designs - remembers what license you have set as active
In next sim update: - Browser mode default window size and position - Added frame rate cap when in browser - Enable shortcut so you can easily launch into the sim - Added error dialog if executable is launched multiple times - Added option for full screen browser in auto config

Today we are releasing our new Time Attack feature along with a preview of iRacing's new User Interface.
Time Attack is a single car, hot lapping competition that ranks your fastest lap times against those of other iRacers in selected official series without regard to license levels, iRatings or Safety Ratings.  Your single fastest laps for each track in the series will be added up and, based on how your total elapsed time compares with other members, you will be ranked from novice and challenger all the way to expert, pro and - finally - world champion.

The new User Interface preview offers a look at the new and improved iRacing "hub" that will be launched in the coming weeks.  Among its many advantages, the new UI will enable you to see race results much faster, seamlessly jump from one race to the next and, with the preview, experience the new Time Attack feature.
"It's a complete overhaul of the User Interface," says Chris Page, iRacing's senior vice president of technology.  "The good news is this is a whole new infrastructure so we'll be able to release it in parallel with the existing UI; you'll still be able to use the Member Site you're comfortable with but also fire up the new application and get the new experience.
"We're looking forward to getting this out, because we've been working on it a really long time.  But we're super excited about where we are going, because this is only the beginning."
