FIRST Official Sporting Code Updated

The FIRST Official Sporting Code has been updated; the latest version is now available as a pdf download under “Reference.” For those who have already read the Sporting Code and would like to simply review the changes, a red-line version of the document has been posted in iRacing Announcements section of the member forums.

Among the changes are a clarification of what constitutes an official session, necessitated by the launch of unofficial series such as the 24 Heures du Fun, and modifications to the FIRST Competition License Program, prompted by the decision to allow Rookies to graduate to Class D every four weeks, rather than only at the end of a full 12-week season.

For those who may have missed this important change to the License Program, here are the details:

Effective immediately, Rookie license holders will have the opportunity to graduate to Class D every four weeks. Promotions to Class D continue to be contingent upon the Minimum Safety Requirements (3.00 or higher) and Minimum Participation Requirements (at least four Time Trial sessions or two Race sessions) in each Category (Oval and Road). This change only affects the Rookie level. All aspects of the FIRST Competition License Program pertaining to non-Rookies remain the same.

Eligible Rookie license holders will graduate to Class D at the end of each Non-Standard (four-week) Rookie season, with promotions taking effect no later than 00:00 GMT on the Tuesday following the conclusion of the Rookie season.
